The System Designer must be able to articulate technology, design and product positioning. **Duties & Responsibilities:** + Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the design, estimating and sales cycle with Sales and Operations. + The System Designer II is responsible for the design of Everon Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems in accordance with local, county, state, and national codes and standards while following sales and operations protocols. + Receive project specifications, RFPs, bid documents, and plans from National, Enterprise, and Core Commercial sales representatives to design and layout the appropriate code compliant system and product mix. Provide scope of work, product selection, installation means, best practices and most cost effective solution to produce code compliant system layouts. + Represent NFLST (National Fire & Life Safety Team) as a fire design technical resource to sales and operations team members. + Participate in national account, sales and operations meetings to evaluate accuracy of the sales estimate and job layout as required. + Support national account and field sales organization in the design and layout of Everon Commercial fire alarm and life safety systems. + Design small, medium and large building fire alarm, voice evacuation, networked fire alarm, high-rise, smoke control, mass notification, emergency radio responder coverage systems, VESDA air-sampling smoke and gas detection. Analyze plans, construction contract specifications and codes to determine project requirements and risks. + Organize system layout by design and prepare the necessary documents required including drawings need for permits: 1) Select proper types, sizes, quantities of products to meet project requirements2) Prepare all information on pre-installation extras or change orders to submit to customer or general/ subcontractor3) Prepare as-built documentation as required + Prepare engineering re-design and/or estimate while working with appropriate sales and operations management to assure understanding of and satisfaction with job scope. + Ability to manage a heavy work load that often changes in scope and discipline. + Ability to adapt to changing work environment, delays or unexpected events, team members is various experience and background knowledge; Manage competing demands; Adapt approach and/or methods to best fit the situation. + Travel 10% or less (specific to training or project related items) **_Qualifications - External_** **Experience:** + 5-10 years engineering fire alarm and life safety systems or other related experience. + Strong knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations required. + Proficiency and understanding in fire alarm and life safety system programming, job start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting preferred. + Ability to manage a varied and heavy workload and set priorities. + Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, delays or unexpected events; manage competing demands; change approach or method to best fit the situation. **Knowledge/Skills/Certifications:** + Knowledge of Microsoft Office, word processing, spreadsheet, project management, and AutoCAD required. + Good verbal and written communication skills. + Fully proficient and independent design skills. + Able to design medium to large jobs with deviation from standard tools, products or practices as needed. + Ability to read schematic and/or construction plans is required. + Strong organizational and self-motivated skills with a professional attitude. + Constant use of discretion and problem analysis. + Frequent use of judgment and independent action. + Understands process of construction projects and the requirements to document all changes or deviations to specifications. + Knowledge of network communications technology. + Ability to work remotely in an effective and efficient manner. **Education:** + Associates degree in Electronics or other technical field or equivalent experience preferred. + NICET III or IV Fire Alarm Certification preferred; NICET II Fire Alarm Certification required. Our Fire Protection Department services include fire alarm and detection system design, high-rise buildings, large campus fire alarm and protection, sprinkler, emergency communications and more. Some of your responsibilities include the following: Design of fire suppression and fire alarm systems in the Mission Critical Market Sector with the potential to work throughout all company market sectors including academic, commercial, healthcare, and science and technology. The engineer will be responsible for designs of automatic sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps, gaseous agent suppression, fire alarms, voice evacuation, mass notification, special technology fire detection and smoke control. Coordinate with the design team and/or construction staff to lead related portions of construction planning and visit the project construction site throughout the construction administration process along with field reports, RFI responses, and FP / FA shop drawing and submittal reviews. Design and layout systems, and create drawings using Revit, AutoCAD, and HydraCALC. Survey existing project sites to document existing conditions and to assess existing FP / FA infrastructure. Essential Skills & Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Fire Protection Engineering. 7+ years of professional fire protection engineering industry experience designing fire protection and fire alarm systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit with fluency in MS Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook and cloud tools. Strong communication and computer skills are required. The preferred candidate will have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills Candidate must have the ability to create and modify technical drawings and specifications Customer service perspective with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff Ability to travel to review Fire Suppression and Fire Alarm system installations PE highly preferred Proven Leadership Experience Our Flexible and Hybrid Culture: We know that work/life integration is important to our employees. The Electrical Designer II will be a part of the PCB Design team and will play a role in the development of our power tool electronics. As a member of the PCB Design team you will utilize Altium design tools at an expert level. You will be challenged to expand your technical skills in PCB design and learn to communicate complex layout topics with Engineers and Sr. Designers. You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities: Work with Engineers & Senior Electrical Designers to design Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) for AC & DC circuits in new and existing products. Proficiency in PCB layout tasks such as: definition of PCBA dimensions based on system design constraints, circuit block arrangement (floor-planning), power and ground plane creation, component placement, and routing of signal nets to minimize cost and maximize design for manufacturability, reliability, thermal management, and test (DFx). Apply both general as well as project specific Design Rules and resolve DRC errors. You will also learn to create & modify both general as well as project specific Design Rules and resolve DRC errors. Prepare and present PCB designs for technical review in compliance with Milwaukee Design Processes. Generate PCB document packages in compliance with Milwaukee standards. Work closely with PCB vendors to source prototypes from our design files (either 1-up or panelized) if required. Participate in component library maintenance including creation of component footprints, generation of schematic symbols, 3D models and entry of new parts in the Electronics CAD (ECAD) library. Complete ECAD/MCAD file transfer & work with members of the mechanical design team to achieve excellence in system design and quality. Complete selected IPC or other training to enhance your knowledge & design skillset. Commit to successful completion of CID training What TOOLS you'll bring with you: Associate Degree in a technical discipline. 2+ years of applicable experience in PCBA design and assembly. Experience in the use of professional level PCB CAD tools used for high volume PCB design, preferably Altium. Basic understanding of electronics. Highly detailed oriented, organized, and able to work in a team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft business software. Must have good interpersonal, verbal and written communication.
