Fire sprinkler service technician job description

• Working knowledge of NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, & 25.
• Ability to be compliant with code and remain up to date with current fire suppression systems and sprinkler heads. Working knowledge in the installation of Steel pipe, CPVC, C-900 & ductile iron piping.
• Working knowledge and understanding of how to read and interpret fire sprinkler and architectural plans.
• Ability to solve problems using NFPA code Knowledge of alarm systems.
• Ability to verify system function by testing equipment, connections and signals Identify and correct any problems.
• Ability to maintain electronic records by documenting installations.
• Must posses a strong understanding of the service process, internal drive, accountability, persistence and a “customer first” attitude, exceptional communication, organizational skills and attention-to-detail, as well as a professional presentation at all times.
• Need to be flexible in regards to work hours and the willingness to work in an on-call rotation.
• Ability to maintain current licenses and certification, and when required, obtain additional licenses and certifications.
• Ability to learn new skills and technology.

Requirements:

• 2-3 years’ experience as a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter.
• WA State Fitters card.
• Must be able to obtain NICET II certification within 9 months of start date.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Job Description

• Service, inspect, and test fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflows to make sure they are in compliance per NFPA standards.
• Diagnose issues on systems in order to perform proper repairs.
• Read and interpret blueprints as needed.
• Perform emergency service calls to troubleshoot and repair fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps and backflows.
• Cut, thread, and groove pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws and pipe threaders
• Communicate any deficiencies that need to be addressed.
• Provides guidance to helpers and more junior level technicians as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years’ experience in the fire sprinkler industry.

• Working knowledge of wet, dry, and pre-action systems as well as backflow and fire pumps
• Experience with installation of underground piping preferred but not required.
• Proficient in NFPA 13, 20 & 24 code requirements.
• Ability to use trade appropriate tools to perform daily pipe fitting duties efficiently and safety
• Ability to train others to use trade appropriate tools efficiently and safely.

• Able to work flexible hours which may include weekends and overtime.
• Willing to obtain RME-I and backflow license.

• Comprehensive knowledge of fire sprinkler codes and standards.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
• Pass a background check and drug screening.

Fire Sprinkler Deficiency and Service Sales

The primary responsibility of this position is to price deficiency from inspection reports, sell new system designs, installations and commissioning; system modifications and upgrades as well as to sell fire sprinkler systems. The target market will be those companies in the commercial, industrial, residential, multifamily/apartment and hospitality and healthcare industries.

Job Responsibilities

+ Establish contact with prospective and qualified potential buyers of service agreement, system modifications and upgrades by scheduling sales calls, following up on leads and outlined marketing strategies

+ Perform job setup, identify and order materials needed for jobs, and coordinate with the Service Manager to schedule work

+ Contact prospective and qualified potential buyers of new commercial fire sprinkler systems and associated equipment

+ Determine customer needs by conducting site surveys and communicate effectively to educate the customer about WSFP capabilities

+ Develop and maintain an active proposal backlog to support the established sales plan

+ Develop and maintain new and existing customer relationships to ensure ORR meets or exceeds their expectations of a long term partner

+ Support other WSFP Teams in their initiatives as they relate to your territory

+ Meet the key objectives of the annual commission plan

Job Qualifications

+ Five years plus experience in the fire protection industry is required

+ Strong working knowledge of different types for fire sprinkler systems and system components.

+ Strong working knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes

+ Viable local relationships with General Contractors

+ Strong prospecting skills

+ Proven ability to close

+ Possess proficient communication and inter-personal skills

+ Travel within the state is required

+ Possess valid driver's license; in accordance with Company policy

+ Willing to pass post-offer drug screen and reference and background check
