About the Role: We're seeking a Business Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise Applications team and drive the evolution of our integrated business technology ecosystem. This is an internal application development and systems integration role focused on building, connecting, and optimizing the tools that power our business operations. As we scale our operations and mature our compliance posture, you'll play a critical role in making data flow seamlessly between systems while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and automation. This position offers significant growth potential for an engineer interested to develop into a systems architect over the next 4-5 years while maintaining strong hands-on execution capabilities. About the Team: Symmetry's Enterprise Applications team is growing and scaling with the company! As our business scales and becomes more complex, we need to ensure that our enterprise application architecture, integration, and deployments continue to meet Symmetry's business goals and support our functional team driving business outcomes. The Business Systems Engineer will play an important role in strengthening Symmetry's technology foundation and supporting ambitious growth objectives. Here's what you'll do day-to-day: Design, build, and maintain custom solutions within NetSuite (SuiteScript), Salesforce (Apex, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python), and other critical business applications Develop and maintain robust integrations using AWS services and iPaaS platforms like Celigo to ensure seamless data flow between systems Implement data synchronization solutions that maintain integrity and compliance across all connected platforms Lead a comprehensive analysis of all existing application integrations, identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and modernization opportunities Research and evaluate potential future integrations that could enhance business operations and data connectivity Develop and maintain a definitive roadmap for modernizing the entire internal application integration ecosystem, prioritizing initiatives based on business impact and technical feasibility Support the development and execution of environment strategy, release management processes, and overarching data integration architecture Help establish mature project management approaches and contribute to long-term systems planning Translate business requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions that align with organizational goals Ensure business systems evolve in lockstep with expanding compliance requirements, particularly in SOC 2 environments Monitor system health, troubleshoot application issues, and maintain high availability across integrated platforms Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for technical architecture, processes, and standard operating procedures Work closely with the Director of Enterprise Applications to evaluate and implement new technologies that enhance enterprise systems Collaborate effectively in cross-functional initiatives Manage project workflows using tools like Jira and Asana Here's what we're looking for: Required Experience 4-6 years of hands-on business systems engineering experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field Core Technical Skills Programming Languages & Frameworks - Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS, and SQL; experience with REST/SOAP APIs, JSON/XML data formats, and modern development frameworks Amazon Web Services (AWS) - Experience with integration services, Lambda, API Gateway, and related development tools Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) - NetSuite development and customization using SuiteScript Customer Relationship Management (CRM) - Salesforce development with Apex, JavaScript, and Lightning platform technologies; experience with HubSpot or similar platforms Identity and Access Management (IAM) - Implementation and integration experience with Okta, Auth0, or comparable platforms Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) - Hands-on experience with Celigo or similar integration platforms Preferred Additional Experience Customer Success Management (CSM) platforms: Catalyst, Zendesk, Delighted Business Intelligence (BI) solutions: QuickSight, Looker, or similar analytics platforms Modern productivity and collaboration tools: Jira, Slack, Asana, Google Workspace AI/ML integration tools and platforms for business applications Prior experience operating within a SOC 2 compliant environment Professional Attributes Strong architectural thinking Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach to cross-functional work Balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution capabilities Experience supporting both strategy development and tactical implementation Certifications Preferred: AWS Certified Developer - Associate or AWS Solutions Architect - Associate Nice to Have: NetSuite SuiteFoundation Certification Salesforce Platform Developer I, Platform Developer II, or Administrator Celigo Integration Platform Specialist Additional AWS or cloud integration certifications Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $105,000 - $131,000 in the Scottsdale area. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above. Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale. Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
