FNB got its start in a home in Greenville, Pennsylvania, in 1864.
1864: First National Bank is founded in Greenville, Pennsylvania, as The First National Bank of West Greenville.
In the heart of the Jackson Purchase in May of 1875, FNB Bank, Inc. was founded as the First National Bank of Mayfield with a capitalization of $100,000.
1884: Re-chartered as The First National Bank of Greenville, the bank will remain a fixture in Mercer County through World War I, the Great Depression and World War II.
Farmer and Merchants Bank opened in Heavener in 1905.
O.J.M. Brewer opened the Bank of Heavener in the Brewer Building on November 1, 1909.
On September 15, 1910, the directors of the Bank of Heavener applied for a national charter.
In 1937, a new building was built.
First National Bank began banking in a temporary mobile office in Livingston, Tennessee on October 25, 1965.
Chief John Big Tree was the guest of honor at the July 20, 1966 Grand Opening Celebration.
The bank’s tenth anniversary, October 25, 1975, was celebrated with the Grand Opening of the bank’s second full service banking office which was established on 1115 West Main Street in Livingston.

Over the years, FNB Bank acquired three Banks in the area, including City National Bank, Farmer’s Bank of Mayfield, and the Bank of Farmington in 1987.

1992: The Bank becomes First National Bank of Pennsylvania following a successful merger in northwestern Pennsylvania.
Nine years later, on May 10, 1997, First National Bank celebrated the Grand Opening of its new office building at 412 South Jefferson Avenue.
First National Bank expanded on September 15, 1997 with temporary quarters in a house adjacent to the 1386 North Main Street construction site of its new bank building.
First National Bank of the Cumberlands celebrated the Grand Opening of its new Crossville Office in May 16, 1998.

In January 1999, FNB expanded its facilities beyond the city limits of Mayfield into the city of Wingo, located in Graves County at 52 Exchange Street.
In August, 2000, Sooner Southwest Bankshares, Inc., a bank holding company, purchased State National Bank.
Sooner Southwest Bankshares wasted little time and in April, 2001, merged the two banks under the charter of First National Bank.
2003: F.N.B. Corporation, with assets of $4.6 billion and more than 125 locations, begins trading common shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “FNB.”
First National Bank of Decatur County was organized in 2004 by a group of local people and community leaders who share a personal stake in the future of our community.
In 2004, First National Bank of the Cumberlands changed it’s name to First National Bank of Tennessee.
In 2005, FNB’s former President, Ted Hudson and Board of Directors made the decision to change the bank’s charter from a national charter to a state charter.
The bank expanded into White County in 2005.
In 2005, First National Bank began construction of a new, full-service branch in Poteau, OK. A temporary building was opened on the property during construction of the permanent facility.
The new FNB Poteau branch was completed and opened for business in December, 2006.
A Grand Opening celebration was held on June 22, 2007 to celebrate the construction of a new banking office.
On December 10, 2008, First National Bank celebrated with the Grand Opening of the bank’s second full service banking office in Cumberland County, which was established at 5011 Peavine Road in Fairfield Glade.
One year after breaking ground, during May of 2009, the employees of the Mayfield Main office moved into the new beautiful building located at 101 East Broadway.
On April 28, 2010, FNB announced the purchase of the Mayfield and Cadiz, Kentucky locations of Integra Bank.
On August 22, 2011, the new Mayfield South Banking Center relocated from 408 East Broadway (previous Integra Bank location) to its new home at 310 Charles Drive in Mayfield.

2014: FNB officially moves its corporate headquarters to Pittsburgh from Hermitage, Pennsylvania.
On Saturday, May 9th, 2015, FNB held a community wide celebration in honor of its 140th Birthday.
2016: FNB exceeds a milestone $20 billion in assets, making it the second largest bank based in Pittsburgh and across the state of Pennsylvania by assets.
2017: FNB begins serving customers in the Southeastern U.S as it expands into North Carolina and South Carolina through a merger with Yadkin Financial Corporation.
In October 2018, FNB Bank announced its purchase of a recently vacated building, located at 611 South 12th Street in Murray, KY. FNB planned to renovate the building and use it as a second office location in Murray.
In June 2021, FNB was named the 12th Best Place to Work in Kentucky in the Small Business Category.
On December 10, 2021, an EF4 Tornado caused catastrophic damage to FNB’s Mayfield Main and Operations Office buildings when it tore through Mayfield at approximately 9:26 PM CST.
In July 2022, FNB opened its new Benton Office at 315 W. 5th Street, Suite 700 in Benton.
2022: FNB’s 2022 merger with Baltimore, Maryland-based Howard Bancorp, Inc. deepens the Company’s presence in the dynamic Mid-Atlantic Region.
