1838
According to its website, FNB is the oldest bank in South Africa. It traces its origins back to the Eastern triocrees Province Bank, which was formed in Grahamstown in 1838.
1889
Our bank began as a private bank owned in 1889 by J.F. Anderson and his son, Charles, just two years after the City of Ardmore was founded.
1890
Within a year a national charter was granted, and on August 13, 1890, the bank began operating under the name of The First National Bank of Ardmore.
1891
The Nationale Bank der Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek Beperk National Bank of the South African Republic Limited was registered in Pretoria in 1891 and opened for business on 5 April of the same year.
1895
In 1895, the fast growing town, with its uneven and unpainted sidewalks and hurriedly built stores and homes, suffered the first of two disasters.
1900
The First National Bank Trust Company of Miami opened for business on February 17, 1900, and has served Miami and the surrounding area for over 100 years.
1913
First National Bank in Ringling was established in 1913.
1919
By 1919, most of the town had been rebuilt, and First National Bank, which had again escaped destruction in the explosion, moved into its new home on the Northeast corner of Main and A St NW. The new building was one of the most striking architectural structures the residents had ever seen.
1926
First State Bank Trust opened its door on February 13, 1926, after a group of local investors received a charter for Commercial State Bank.
1929
First City National Bank of Lexington consolidated with the Phoenix National Bank and Trust Company on March 4, 1929 to form the First National Bank and Trust Company of Lexington.

The crash of the stock market in October 1929 signaled the beginning of the Great Depression.
1931
The Guaranty Bank and Trust failed during February 1931 and after being reorganized as the Citizen Bank and Trust Company subsequently closed again.
1933
The Glass-Steagall Banking Act prohibited commercial banks from engaging in investment banking issuance and trading of securities . In addition, the Federal Reserve Act of 1933 established the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to insure bank deposits.
1934
On January 1, 1934, all the deposits of the First National Bank were insured up to five thousand dollars.
1939
The Second World War began in September 1939 when German troops marched into Poland.
1944
Committee for the Fourth War Loan Drive, January 1944.
1946
The bank created a Consumer Loan Department during 1946 to meet the credit needs of the returning servicemen.
1949

1953
First National responded to this shift, and liberalization of banking regulations, by opening the Chevy Chase Branch on Euclid Avenue in 1953.
In June 1953, Lindsay Fitch was selected as the first Branch Manager and Edwin F. G. Hessel as the Assistant Manager.
1954
By selling preferred stock to banks, major businesses and community leaders, the Industrial Foundation purchased in 1954 one hundred thirty four acres on the northern beltline.
1955
In 1955, J. Douglas Gay, Jr. a First National director established WLEX-TV as the first TV station in Lexington.
1956
The Industrial Foundation announced in 1956 that IBM Corporation was relocating its electric typewriter division to Lexington and constructing a plant on Newtown Pike.
1959
In May 1959, First National became the first bank in Kentucky to issue imprinted plastic charge cards.
1965
In 1965, our name was expanded to First National Bank Trust Co., as the United States Comptroller approved the addition of a full-service Trust Department.
1970
In 1970, Directors received approval to establish a Trust Department.
1971
Swinney sold the bank to Elmer Graham of Walters, OK. In March of 1971, First National Bank of Ringling changed from a National charter to a state charter and became Ringling State Bank.
1973
In 1973, the Foundation purchased property on Palumbo Drive for the FMC Corporation to locate to Lexington.
1975
In March 1975, the bank moved into our present location and has continued to grow with the city.
1978
Jim Patton was Chairman and President of First Community Bank since its inception September 20, 1978.
1983
Bank of Love County opened for business on October 23, 1983 in Marietta, OK, with J. Pierce Monkres as President and Chairman of the Board.
1986
Due to a disinvestment campaign against South Africa because of its apartheid policies, Barclays was forced to reduce its shareholding and sold its shareholding in the bank in 1986.
1987
The drive-in windows on the west side of the Main Bank were removed and replaced by an addition to house the Trust Department.Directors, deciding to add bank branches to the surrounding communities, purchased what is today the Ray Branch in 1987.
The bank was renamed First National Bank of Southern Africa Limited in 1987 and became a wholly South African owned and controlled entity.
1988
In 1988, they purchased Williston Basin State Bank.
1991
In July 1991, FCB acquired the deposits and physical assets of the Ardmore Branch of First Federal Savings Association located at 1226 West Broadway.
1996
First National Bank and Trust Company merged with First Community Bank and Trust Company of Lone Grove, OK on September 27, 1996.
1997
First National Bank and Trust Company of Ardmore acquired Ringling State Bank on October 1, 1997 and it became First National Bank Trust Company Ringling Branch.
1998
In 1998, the financial services interests which included their shareholding in First National Bank of Rand Merchant Bank Holdings and Anglo-American Corporation were merged to form First Rand Limited, which is listed on the JSE Securities Exchange.
FCB later changed its name to The First National Bank and Trust Company Lone Grove Branch in August of 1998.
1999
In 1999 the First National Bank was mentioned in the 'Ciex Report' that summarised a two-year long investigation into the theft of R26 billion from the state during the apartheid era.
2008
And in the same tradition, First National Bank acquired Citizens Bank of Velma in July of 2008.
2015
In January 2015, the 1NB Financial Center was opened in Norman.
2016
In July 2016, 1NB Financial Center began operating as a branch to accommodate customers.
2017
True to 2017 the stolen funds have yet to be recovered.
2019
On November 1, 2019, this location began operating as a full service branch.
2020
In 2020, the name was changed to First State Bank Trust.
2020 First National Bank Trust Company of Miami.
