First Pentecostal Church company history timeline

1947

Attempts to limit the multiplication of Pentecostal denominations and to heal divisions within the movement began with the Pentecostal World Conference, first held in Zürich, Switzerland, in 1947.

1948

1948 Healing crusades begin under William Branham and Oral Roberts

The initial international gathering highlighted the need for a similar meeting in North America and led to the formation of the Pentecostal Fellowship of North America (PFNA) in 1948.

1953

First Pentecostal Church of Jackson was founded in 1953 by Reverend W.E. Gamblin.

1955

First Pentecostal Church has been at the forefront of the current revival movement since 1955.

1960

Some movement began in the mid-1960’s.

1962

On July 29, 1962, Brother Thomas L. Craft was confirmed by the congregation as Pastor of First Pentecostal Church of Jackson, MS. In the next few years, great victories were won, and the congregation experienced much revival and growth.

1964

In 1964, the Columbus Center building, at 324 Pusey Street, was purchased and renovated into a beautiful edifice, suitable for worship and the ministry of the Word.

And in 1964, when pressed to take a stand on integration, the group's executive presbytery adopted a statement leaving such positions up to individual churches.

1969

By the late ‘60’s, the church at 1505 Robinson was overflowing! A building committee was formed, and groundbreaking for a new church was in the spring of 1969.

1970

When the church at Second and Buckeye was destroyed by fire in 1970, a new facility was built at #1, 52nd Place, North Little Rock.

1973

In 1973, the Christian Reformed Church responded to the then exploding charismatic movement by adopting a report that said in part:

In 1979, a new campus was purchased at 1555 Beasley Rd. in North Jackson.

1980

In 1980, the Lord directed Bishop Strobhar to appoint one of his young associate ministers, Elder Samuel W. Ellis, pastor of First Pentecostal Holy Church.

1982

Christian History Institute (CHI) is a non-profit Pennsylvania corporation founded in 1982.

1988

Stanley Burgess, Gary McGee, and Patrick Alexander, Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1988) states that the Pentecostal/charismatic movement is "one worldwide trans-denominational outpouring of the Spirit of God" (p.

The opportunity arose in 1988 to purchase ten acres on Interstate 40.

1994

In 1994 the PFNA formerly dissolved and was replaced by a new interracial organization, the Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America.

1998

2000

A contract with Matson Construction Company (who also built the first building) was signed on April 23, 2000.

The Protestant Reformed Churches' reaction to it has been bluntly negative" (Arthur J. Clement, The Pentecostals and Charismatics: A Confessional Lutheran Evaluation, Milwaukee, WI: Northwestern Publishing House, 2000, pp.52, 53).

2001

At the beginning of 2001, the steel structure stood tall.

2004

The powerful anointing of the Lord came down, and unanimous support was given that the project should continue full force! The building project was completed, and the first service was held on Easter Sunday of 2004.

2018

On December 9, 2018, history was made once again at First Pentecostal Holy Church, when our beloved Bishop Samuel W. Ellis retired after 38 years and nine months, and appointed Elder Vernadine Ellis as our third pastor, and first woman ever to pastor the church.
