POSITION SUMMARY: The Direct Care Floater is responsible for providing direct youth supportive service coverage during times a position is open and temporary staff leave. Floater staff will support Youth Advocate (Case Manager), Education and Employment Specialist, and Housing Specialist position to provide case management, skills development, assessment, crisis management and implementation of intervention strategies that directly support youth to build skills towards independent living. The Floater staff is active in developing, supporting and implementing an individualized, strength ‘based, culturally competent, youth-centered approach. A successful Floater staff understands how to motivate, coach, and mentor young adults to achieve goals while transitioning into adult lives from the foster care system. The Direct Care Floater position is part of a pool authorized to work up to 29 hours per week when an assignment becomes available. No hours are guaranteed on an ongoing basis. and depends on the needs of the organization. After completing required training, individuals in this role will be contacted to fill in when scheduling needs or vacancies arise. This position also requires ongoing availability for onsite and community-based assignments during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct Care and Interventions 35%
In-residence visits are mandatory as outlined in the program guidelines
Provide direct care to an assigned caseload of youth in person, via video calls and via phone throughout the community.
Support in developing goals and working towards goal obtainment in partnership with each youth.
Gathers and analyzes on-going information to ensure youth safety, well-being and progress towards goals.
Provides on-going assessment of youth well-being and develops plans to ensure safety and de-escalate crisis as needed.
Provides direct support, coaching, mentoring and interventions to increase youth self-sufficiency and goal attainment.
Case Management/Coordination 35%
Collaborates with community providers including county workers, courts, professionals, vocational and independent living skills programs, schools, family members and significant others.
Keeps key team members informed and Works with team members to identify and engage appropriate natural supporters.
Provided targeted support in assigned role:
Youth Advocate - healthy living and life skill development to support barrier removal for education and employment goals.
Education and Employment Specialist - develop career and education related goals and identify steps to achieve goals, including post-secondary education planning.
Housing Specialist - support housing team in maintaining units, completing service requests, turning units for move ins and move outs, and maintaining relationships with landlords.
Collaborate with the other members of the youth team and supervisors/managers to ensure a team-based approach.
Documentation/Administrative Duties (30%)
Completes documentation including but not limited to Care and Services plans, needs assessments, and progress notes.
Ensures all needed paperwork and consents are completed for each client at time of entry.
Participates in agency committee meetings as assigned.
Completes on-going orientation and monthly training as assigned.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
BA in social work, psychology, counselling or equivalent required with Minimum two years of experience working in a child welfare social service setting or with transition age youth with complex presentations including chronic trauma.
Master's Degree in a social work, psychology, counselling or equivalent preferred.
A strong dedication to cultural competency that creates conditions that remove barriers and increase a sense of belonging.
Must be comfortable working in community settings.
Willingness to work collaboratively, but with the capacity to work independently
Must be able to pass a Community Care Licensing background check
Must have a car, a valid CA driver's license and auto insurance.
Computer skills -- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, Project and Outlook. Experience with database systems
Strong communication - Exceptional oral and written communication skills including the demonstrated ability to research, assimilate, and analyze information, compose engaging messages, and present data in a clear and inspiring manner.
Availability for occasional evening and weekend work and some travel as needed.

The Inspector I is the entry level class in the inspection series. POSITION SUMMARY: The TAY Case Manager provides intensive onsite and community-based case management for individuals whom faced homelessness as Transition Age Youth (TAY) and now live at our affordable housing locations. Through comprehensive case management, the TAY Case Manager helps clients to identify and attain goals in the areas of self-sufficiency, independent living, health and wellness, relationships, employment and education, and personal advocacy. The TAY Case Manager also provides on-site, drop in resource and referral support for residents as needed and coordinates community building activities and workshops that promote independent living skills. This position works closely with Affordable Housing partners to ensure housing stability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing Case-management and skills development to participants in program

Create and deliver impactful service plans for participants that focus on achieving outcomes in the areas of wellness, budgeting, long-term housing, education, employment, parenting, relationships and overall health
Coordinate with referral agencies, identify community resources, track participants' progress, and develop creative ways for participants to practice and strengthen their independent living skills
Prepare clients to maintain housing after program exit or help them to identify alternative housing options if necessary
Support participants to develop and practice social emotional learning skills that promote conflict resolution and decision making
Assess educational status and interest of participants and support their educational goals
Work collaboratively with Education and Employment Specialist and participants to improve resumes and cover letters, submit job applications, prepare for interviews and secure full and part-time employment
Coach participants on handling work-related issues, promote self-advocacy and increase success in job retention
Form partnerships with community agencies that can help link participants with community connections, building networks, wellness and employment opportunities
Create new linkages with community-based organizations, on-site resources and housing stability support through the case management process to help build participant transition to independent living.
Help participants move into supported housing. This includes helping participants secure and transport furniture, shop for home necessities, and locate resources in their new community
Ensure that apartments meet cleanliness standards by conducting monthly apartment inspections
Display and disseminate community resources relevant to residents and provide resource, referral and eviction prevention support to participants as needed
Client meetings scheduled as needed to ensure successful transition to independent living
Support property management to address serious housing concerns related to participants
Guide tours for funders and community providers to demonstrate how First Place for Youth partnerships with Affordable Housing agencies provide TAY with a stable and affordable housing solution
Coordinate community events and workshops to assist participants with independent living skills
Actively participate in weekly coordination meetings with property management staff and agency partners
Documentation/Administrative Duties
Attend weekly program meetings, monthly agency staff meetings, and individual weekly supervision with TAY Program Manager
Maintain files for caseload and update monthly paperwork

Qualification and Requirements:
BA Social Welfare, Psychology, or equivalent required
At least three years' experience working with homeless, at-risk, transition age (18-24-year-old) or foster youth populations with complex presentations including presentations of chronic trauma.
A strong dedication to cultural competency that creates conditions that remove barriers and increase a sense of belonging.
Must be comfortable working in community settings.
Experience working with participants who have mental health and substance abuse issues
Experience in creating and delivering impactful service plans for participants

Working Conditions: Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily office activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and finger coordination in preparing and entering data, using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading correspondence and using the computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone and counter service to the public. The need to lift, drag and push file, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.
Experience and Training Guidelines
LATERAL POLICE DISPATCHER (Must have completed a probationary period as a police dispatcher in a law enforcement agency)
PRE-SERVICE POLICE DISPATCHER (Completion of the California POST mandated dispatcher course upon hire)
A combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. The incumbent must have knowledge of:
Police Dispatcher I
Modern office equipment including computers and applicable software.
Modern office procedures, practices, and equipment.
Correct English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
Methods and techniques for record keeping.
Police Dispatcher IIIn addition to the qualifications of Dispatcher I, incumbents must have knowledge of:
Standard operating procedures of police dispatching.
Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Police-related computer and teletype networks.
Operational characteristics of standard office and dispatch equipment.
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
Experience: Dispatcher I - One (1) year of work experience that involves a substantial amount of public contact. One (1) year of telephone and/or dispatch and general clerical experience is desirable.Dispatcher II - Successful completion of the probationary period as a police dispatcher in law enforcement agency.
Education:Dispatcher I - Completion of the twelfth grade, or equivalent.Dispatcher II - Completion of the twelfth grade, or equivalent, and successful completion of the P.O.S.T. mandated dispatcher course.
In addition, advancement from a Police Dispatcher I to a II requires incumbent to demonstrate competence in all phases/duties/responsibilities of the position and have recommendation of a Communications Supervisor.
Licenses/Certifications: Possession of, and continuously throughout employment, a valid California Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent.
A typing speed of 45 wpm is required (a typing test will be administered at a later date as part of the recruitment process).
Supplemental Information
Successful candidates will be required to pass a drug screening, fingerprint screening, physical examination and a background investigation.

Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges. Applicants must be able to hear the whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without the use of a hearing aid.
Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.
Certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so, if you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959.
