1932

Before the two men left, however, they had bolstered First Security's position by acquiring Deseret National Bank during a 1932 bank panic in Salt Lake City.

First Security Bank was chartered in 1932 in Searcy, Arkansas, under the name of Security Bank.

1934

He left Utah in early 1934 to accept the position, then later that year was appointed to the Federal Reserve Board and designated its chairman by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

1935

1935: Officially acquired our first branch office in Marble Rock.

1940

Late 1940: The bank's ownership passed hands from Ellis and Ellis to Ralph Zastrow, E.L. (Jim) Wallaser, W.A. Herbrechtsmeyer, and Merten J. Klaus.

1965

By 1965, roughly 15 years into the post-war economic expansion, First Security maintained $650 million in deposits, nearly double what it held in the previous decade.

1966

In 1966, the name was officially changed to First Security Bank.

1970

Five years later, in 1970, the bank's deposits had increased to $865 million.

1972

First Security Bank first opened its doors in downtown Missoula in 1972.

1982

Quickly though, First Security's fortunes were reversed, engendered by the collapse of the region's natural resource-based economy and brought to light by the death of George Eccles in 1982.

1985

Against this backdrop, Spencer Eccles announced First Security's 1985 earnings, yet another disappointing result.

1986

Four years later, in 1986, First Security's rebound still had not materialized, and, if anything, the bank's financial condition had worsened.

2001

On April 2nd, 2001, First Security Bank opened its new facility in Trimble, Missouri.

2004

In 2004, First Security opened its first branch in Little Rock on Cantrell Road.

2009

2009: In 2009, First Security Bank & Trust merged with First State Bank of Nora Springs and First State Bank of Riceville, all members of the bank's holding company.

2014

First Security has over $4 billion in assets and over 900 employees working in 72 locations throughout the state in 2014.

2015

2015: In June, First Security installed the first Interactive Teller Machines in Charles City.

After December 4, 2015 both banks would do business under the name First Security Bank & Trust.

2016

In December 2016, First Security closed its Meservey and Swaledale offices.
