We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mid-Level Project Scheduler to join our Project Management Project Controls team within the Construction and Design Services organization. This role is ideal for professionals with a solid foundation in project scheduling who are ready to take on more complex projects and contribute independently to project success.
As a Mid-Level Scheduler, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining project schedules using Primavera P6, collaborating with project teams, and supporting the delivery of high-quality scheduling services. You will also provide guidance to junior team members and contribute to process improvements.
FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.
The estimated pay range for this role is $72,675- $109,200. The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range $87,210 - $131,040.
Responsibilities include:
Data Entry and Maintenance:
Inputting project data into the Primavera P6 system, including project activities, durations, resources, and relationships between tasks. You will also be responsible for regularly updating and maintaining the schedule as the project progresses.
Schedule Monitoring:
Assisting in monitoring project progress by comparing actual work completed to the planned schedule. Identifying discrepancies and helping to develop corrective action plans.
Generating Reports:
Supporting and producing regular schedule reports and schedule updates for project managers. This may involve extracting data from P6 and presenting it in a clear and concise manner.
Resource Management:
Assisting in managing project resources by ensuring they are properly assigned to activities and responsible groups are identified accurately.
Risk Assessment:
Supporting the identification and analysis of potential schedule risks and assisting in developing mitigation strategies.
Collaboration:
Working with the project team to collect information, verify progress, and ensure that the schedule reflects the most up-to-date status of the project.
Training and Learning:
Continuously learning and improving your knowledge of Primavera P6, project scheduling best practices, and project management processes and practices.
Adherence to Standards:
Following established scheduling procedures, company guidelines, and industry best practices to maintain data integrity and consistency.
Qualifications Include:
Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering, construction management, business administration or related degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience. Relevant work may include project scheduling, planning, or project management.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in project scheduling, planning, or project management. Relevant experience includes hands-on experience in developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules using tools like Primavera P6, ideally within construction or engineering environments, with demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate across project teams.
Professional certifications related to project management and scheduling is a plus.
Proficiency in project scheduling software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other industry-standard tools is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey information.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.

What You'll Do:

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Conduct or assist in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating assigned project activities. Perform coordination and administrative tasks as delegated by the lead project manager or supervisor. Develop an understanding of various project management principles and techniques (Waterfall, Agile) and successfully implement these techniques in project management for the organization.

A two (2) or four (4) year college degree is required for advancement to the Project Manager (grade 007) level or above of this job family.
Qualified experience includes outage management activities, business/financial administration, major construction field experience, project estimating, project controls, project engineering, and/or comparable internal or external experience in a competitive production environment. Knowledge in construction safety, negotiations, scope development and control, cost estimating, construction contracting, project controls and reporting, and quality control would be beneficial. Experience in utilities, commercial nuclear power, and/or IT systems is favorable.
PMP certification is preferred but not required.
Valid state driver's license is required.
Individuals in this position will be progressively assigned the PM lead role on a project for continued development depending on the level of project management knowledge, experience, and leadership competency including successful completion of certification.

For Building Mechanic A:

Ensure change management protocols are followed.

This position is accountable for supervising FirstEnergy Site coordinators and Contract Testing personnel engaged in substation construction activities in the OH and PA service territories. These construction activities include but are not limited to the installation, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage electrical equipment, protective relaying, and other substation control systems. The primary responsibilities include personnel selection, participation in project meetings, coordination of testing resources, incident investigations, performance management, and other personnel oversite activities.
Responsibilities include:
Demonstrating and directing employees and contractors a solid commitment to all aspects of safety and human performance
Coordinating with schedulers to ensure the timely and efficient working assignments of contract testing personnel for capital projects and other priority initiatives.
Participating in the vetting process of prospective contract testing personnel, including the following positions: Start-up Coordinator, P&C Lead, P&C Technician, Apparatus Tester, and SCADA Technician.
Working with Supply Chain to support and implement the Terms & Conditions of service contracts with each testing personnel vendor.
Evaluating and refining all processes and procedures utilized to execute testing & commissioning of substation equipment and related control schemes.
Conducting frequent site visits (50% of total time) to audit safe work practices, application of Human Performance tools, quality of work, work efficiency, and adherence to processes & procedures.
Participating in unintended incident investigations.
Ensuring that compliance related information is collected, retained and shared appropriately, with respect to programs like Cascade, Powerbase and Intelex.
Working & coordinating with other departments across FirstEnergy to carryout substation project testing & commissioning.
Coordinating and/or participating in project-related and department meetings and conference calls.
Actively participating in FirstEnergy Performance Management Program to ensure the career development of yourself and your staff.
Counseling employees and contractors and recommending corrective actions required to meet performance standards.
Supporting other ad hoc assignments and projects as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 5-7 years of applicable electrical testing experience. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, related work experience may be considered. Related work experience includes knowledge of testing practices and procedures of outdoor high-voltage equipment, protective relaying, and other substation control systems.
Strong commitment and thorough knowledge of FirstEnergy Accident Prevention Handbook, Safety & Human Performance, and other FirstEnergy safety policies and procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability and willingness to present complex subject matter to all levels of management and to outside stakeholders.
Strong computer skills with strong proficiency in MS Office products. Also experience with equipment and relay testing software.
Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to coach, mentor, engage and inspire staff to excel in their roles.
