Essential Functions:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Transport university passengers as dictated by the GPS software, during all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, etc.); during off-season hours, and university holidays. Submit comprehensive written incident reports as assigned. Conduct both vehicle and foot patrols of the campus while on shift. Complete security checks of all assigned university facilities to ensure their integrity and the safety of their contents. Respond promptly and professionally to requests for assistance and emergencies. (80%)
* Serve as a security officer for public safety as instructed. Achieve and maintain all campus security requirements and training. Patrol campus areas in designated SafeRide vehicles. Enforce the rules, regulations and policies of the university, to maintain a peaceful and orderly academic environment. Conduct thorough security checks of all assigned facilities to ensure their integrity and the safety of their contents. Report any issues/concerns to management. Possess and maintain a valid Ohio operator's license with no significant violations. Title: BUS DRIVER
Reports to: Transportation Supervisor
Job Objectives: Provides for the safe, efficient, and courteous transportation of students.
Minimum · High school diploma or equivalent.
Qualifications: · Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, annual physical, etc.).
A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
Meets qualifications defined in the current Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Pupil Transportation Operation & Safety Rules, and school board policy.
Completion of the Ohio Pre-Service School Bus Driver Training Program.
Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a school bus endorsement. Meets all prerequisite and ongoing qualifications to be covered by the district's insurance carrier.
Satisfactory pre-employment and ongoing random drug tests results.
Ability to assist students with disabilities (e.g., mobility, transferring, positioning, etc.).
Ability to cope with stressful traffic, weather conditions, and passenger distractions.
Demonstrates maturity and the ability to work with students and their families.

Functions: perform essential functions.
Operates the assigned vehicle according to all motor vehicle laws. Keeps the transportation supervisor informed about emerging issues.
Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
Practices defensive driving techniques. Maintains established routes and time schedules.
Note:
Safety is the top priority even if delays disrupt the bus schedule.
Transports only authorized passengers. Picks up and unloads students only at approved stops. Keeps route sheets up-to-date. Offers routing suggestions.
Performs pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections. Checks fire, emergency equipment, and first aid supplies. Prepares written inspection reports.
Offers help when students ask or their behavior suggests they need assistance.
Supervises bus loading and unloading procedures. Operates the wheelchair lift. Ensures that wheelchairs are properly secured before operating the bus.
Inspects harnesses, restraints, and other safety devices. Immediately corrects or reports unsafe conditions and/or defective equipment.
Anticipates and is prepared to provide assistance when aware of passengers with medical or other health considerations.
Monitors student behavior. Enforces safety regulations. Maintains high standards and upholds the student conduct code.
Promotes the proper use and care of school property. Reports student discipline problems, vandalism, and other related concerns.
Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
Watches for student behavior that may indicate a problem (e.g., profanity, teasing, bullying, distress, etc.). Intervenes and/or reports concerns to an administrator.
Reports indications of suspected child abuse and neglect as required by law.
Assumes responsibility for the interior/exterior cleanliness of the vehicle.
Attempts to identify and report vehicles that fail to comply with traffic regulations (e.g., failure to stop for flashing bus lights, passing in prohibited zones, etc.).
Uses proper protocol when operating bus communication equipment.
Immediately reports all traffic citations and accidents. Promptly documents all injuries that require medical attention.
Reports road hazards along the bus route to the transportation supervisor.
Participates in the district's bus safety program as directed.
Conducts emergency evacuation drills that comply with current state standards.
Reports equipment malfunctions in writing.
Fuels the vehicle and maintains fluid levels (e.g., oil, windshield washer, brake, transmission, etc.). Documents fuel consumption and mileage.
Enforces authorized bus rules/procedures during field trips. Remains available to staff and students during the trip when instructed.
Participates in training necessary to maintain a school bus driver license.
Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
Accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
Wears appropriate work attire and maintains a neat appearance.
Strives to develop rapport and serves as a positive role model for others.
Promote a favorable image of the school district. Support and enhance district
programs and services. Refrain from expressions that disrupt the efficient
operation of the school and/or interfere with the maintenance of discipline by
school officials.

Part-time Description
GENERAL PURPOSE: The part-time Bus Driver will provide transportation to athletics and other extracurricular groups using University-owned buses.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Custodial Operations and Transportation Manager.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Bus drivers do not provide direct supervision of employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safely transports students and employees to various locations as needed in University vehicles.
Reports maintenance needs or mechanical issues to supervisor.
Communicates with Krammes and athletic department staff regularly for scheduling trips.
Assists passengers on and off the bus when help is needed.
Visually inspects the bus before beginning assigned routes.
Prepares an observation report when route is finished.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Professional Experience:
(A) HS diploma
(B) Valid CDL with passenger endorsement
Preferred Education and Experience:
(A) Three years of driving experience in CDL large passenger vehicle

Mental demands include varied degrees of occasional stress while performing job duties. Bus drivers must undergo an annual physical examination.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in a non-traditional setting, and educational facilities including sports and entertainment venues, all of which may be indoor or outdoor. The noise level in the work environment will range from moderately quiet to occasionally loud. The employee will be required to endure prolonged periods of operating the bus.
SELECTION GUIDELINES: Bus drivers will be selected after a formal application procedure, education and experience rating, oral interview, and reference check. Job related tests may be required.
