Key Responsibilities The Opportunity The Med Tech position provides support for our community's residents with the essential day-to-day tasks they can no longer perform or need help with. Med Techs are responsible for administering daily medications. Duties include monitoring residents, reporting changes, and collecting samples. The ideal Med Tech will be detail oriented, possess knowledge of resident care procedures and have excellent communication skills.
What You'll Do
* Deliver routine daily medications, either prescription or non-prescription, to residents
* Record medication dosages and times
* Observe residents and document changes in their condition
* Gather samples for analysis
* Ensure equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned
* Uphold all health and safety standards
* Follows federal, state, and agency regulations to protect own health and that of others
* Coordinate with different nurses to assist with resident care and medications
* Follow written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications
* Respond to resident emergency call signals, bells, or intercom systems to identify residents needs
* Protects confidential client information unless otherwise required to promote client safety and welfare
* Seeks guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficient
* Responsibilities include customer service, administering medication, caregiving, resident safety and communication
What You'll Bring
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
* Successful completion of a state approved Medication Aide course and is approved to assist with or administer oral and external medications, per state regulations
* Must demonstrate competency to perform medication administration in accordance with state regulations
* High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, although mandatory in certain states
* Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old, or the age required by state regulations, whichever is higher
* Working experience alone, on a team, and on projects start to finish
* Strong emotional intelligence and listening skills
* Dedication to the medical field, especially towards working with the residents
* Must pass State and company background checks and drug test
* Take Vital signs
* Assisting resident with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
* Medication supervision (within the scope of the state regulations)

Summary:
The technician assumes the responsibilities for constant electro-cardiographic monitoring with rapid, accurate notification of questionable patterns, and provides accurate documentation of information obtained from the cardiac monitoring equipment. Involves provision of patient care/service to older adolescent, young adult, adult, and geriatric patients.
Responsibilities:

Patient Monitoring.
Monitors ECG rhythms.
After receiving report, watches cardiac monitors constantly and reports immediately to the appropriate RN any changes in rhythm or exceeding alarms parameters.
Enters patient information and approved into central monitor.
Sets and maintains alarm limits according to policy.
Discharges patient as approved by the RN.
Monitoring Equipment Maintenance.
Assures that all monitoring equipment is clean and stored in their proper place.
Uses equipment and supplies with proper care at all times. Demonstrates proper knowledge of equipment function and supplies.
Reports malfunctioning equipment to the charge nurse and clinical equipment department.
Takes responsibility for procurement of new supplies and informs Unit Director of supply needs as they occur.
Communication.
Punctually gives/receives report on assigned patients. Report includes current information displayed on screen and arrhythmia analysis/history of each patient.
Give a brief and accurate summary to the Charge Nurse of the patient's status hourly.
Maintains a cooperative relationship with the medical staff.
Assists the nurse in informing physician of patient ECG history.
Accepts re-assignments and functions productively when reassigned.
Answers phone quietly, quickly, and respectfully at all times. Accurately relays messages.
Notifies RN of any dysrhythmia.
Encourages direct discussion between staff members when differences occur and seeks assistance to arbitrate differences as needed.
Gives and accepts constructive feedback appropriately.
Identifies actual and potentially unsafe patient care practices, reports them in the designated manner, and suggests alternatives.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary
The Patient Care Technician - Health Unit Coordinator handles clerical and patient care tasks under a licensed nurse's supervision.
Essential Functions of the Role
Collects and records patient data, reporting information to nursing team members promptly. Obtains and records patient vital signs, height, weight, nutritional intake, and output. Performs blood glucose monitoring using finger-stick blood samples, test strips, and portable meters. Performs routine urinary catheter care. Collects and transports specimens, including urine, stool, and sputum, as requested.
Helps patients with daily activities like hygiene, dressing, eating, and moving. Changes linen as needed. Answers patient call lights and requests quickly. May be assigned as a sitter for patients needing constant observation.
Completes and maintains unit and patient records, files, forms, and documents. This includes admissions, surgeries, transfers, discharges, medical records, and physician call lists. Maintains a clean and organized work area for records, files, forms, and reference documents. Checks, updates, and maintains facility boards, pneumatic tube systems, and telemetry box reconciliation. Follows departmental policy, procedures, and guidelines.
Prepares reports, purchase orders, projects, memos and letters using computer programs.
Greets visitors and helps them as needed. Answers telephones and contacts the nursing team and medical staff using pagers, beepers, and cell phones. Tracks call light response time for the unit. Assigns phone and location devices to appropriate staff.
Perform work area help duties as directed by the nurse or physician. Runs errands, picks up supplies and transports patients.
Maintains inventory, requisitions and stocks work area supplies and equipment.
May help with non-medical patient care duties, such as making coffee, transporting patients, and distributing ice, water and blankets.
Clean patient bedside units and nursing areas not covered by general housekeeping. Clean equipment properly and distribute based on patient needs.
Attends in-services, unit meetings and conferences.

* EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
* EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
* Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Job Summary
The Patient Care Technician performs various duties under a licensed nurse's supervision. Helps deliver patient care and meet family needs. Follows the care plan, considering the patient's age and development stage.
Essential Functions of the Role
Collect and record patient data, record vital signs and help patients with activities of daily living (ADL).
Answer call lights and complete patient rounds.
Help with completing/maintaining files and forms for admission, transfer, and discharges.
Take care of patient personal hygiene and help with patient clean up.
Comply with Baylor Scott and White policies and procedures.
