Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Assistant Controller the General & Fixed Asset Accountant contributes significantly in all financial reporting for the School, including financial statements, internal and external financial surveys, verification, reviews, and posting a variety of financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles and MSM policies and procedures. This position requires advanced experience in general accounting, general accepted accounting principles, and governmental accounting procedures. This position requires an individual with analytical skills to assist in cost containment and alignment, as well as conducting annual fixed asset perpetual and physical inventory. This position is responsible for the management of Capital Equipment. This includes the accounting for additions, deletions, and changes to the property database and the monitoring, management, analysis and reporting of equipment, library holdings, and supply inventories with respect to financial accounting in accordance with GAAP , federal, state, and related financial reporting compliance requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

-Provide professional level, cross-functional general accounting support which is analytical, evaluative, innovative and advisory in nature for the General Accounting section of the Office of the Controller.

-Maintain fixed asset inventory providing a wide variety of centralized accounting services where the application of knowledge about the theories, principles and practices of the accounting profession, including US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ( GAAP ) are used in classifying, examining, analyzing, reconciling, and reporting of financial transactions while ensuring compliance of applicable laws, rules, and regulations between entities, programs, and funds.

-Analyze financial results and make intelligent business recommendations to improve these results.

-Contribute in the analysis, consolidation, and preparation of institution's financial statements as well as management analysis reports and internal and external financial surveys.

-Responsible for maintenance of attribute tables used for financial and other reporting for fixed asset accounts. Reviews tables on a regular basis for potential errors and/or inconsistencies.

-Perform calculation and review of depreciation expenses on a monthly basis.

-Solves problems associated with accuracy of financial information and complex accounting matters.

-Assists with report specifications and testing of reports ad ensures accuracy, timeliness, and reporting of financial information. Ensures reports function efficiently and securely.

-Support during the annual financial audit process and preparation of data files for auditors.

-Assist in other accounting and finance related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

-Three(3)years of progressive responsibility in financial analysis or cost accounting

-Advance level of experience in Microsoft Excel and highly complex spreadsheets

EDUCATION :

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration from a regionally accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's in Business Administration ( MBA ) or Advance Business Degree

+ Reporting of New Capex Program and track the completeness of project from spending versus receiving of capex purchases.

+ Placing assets in service based on milestones finished by production teams and start of production.

+ Monthly task of preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and cycle review materials on new or existing programs

+ Responsible for quarterly procedures, such as Paid Capex reporting and Unpaid Capex assessment for SOCF reporting.

+ Annually lead global Fixed Assets confirmation project by planning, coordinating, and tracking progress and results until the end.

+ Experience in integrating of systems and automation of workstreams to make it more scalable and efficient.

+ Works closely with internal and cross functional teams (i.e., regional Fixed Assets team, operation teams, FP&A and others)

+ Prepare footnotes and schedules for SEC reporting

+ Prepare supporting document for Internal/External auditors

+ Drive process improvements and automation to improve efficiencies within the group

Requirements

+ Ideally 3-5 years of combined accounting firm and industry experience

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and/or the equivalent in experience.

+ Accounting firm experience is a plus, but not required

+ Previous month-end close and trend/fluctuation analysis experience a plus

+ CPA preferred, but not required

+ Strong understanding of GAAP and clearly communicating accounting issues to finance and non-finance personnel

+ Excellent advanced MS Excel Skills (proficient with pivot tables, vlookups, power query, and data analysis)

+ Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written), positive attitude is a plus

+ Previous tutoring/coaching experience is desirable

+ Good at developing strong partnerships and influencing people.
