1924 first turbogenerator with output 14 MW (or 17.5MVA)

1925 first hydrogenerator with output 230 kVA at 500 rpm

Brush in the UK experienced a series of integrations dating back to 1957 when the Brush companies were incorporated into the Hawker Siddeley Group under the new name of the Brush Electrical Engineering Company Limited.

1959 first hydrogen cooled turbogenerator with output 100 MW (125 MVA)

1966 first combined hydrogen and water cooled turbogenerator with output 200 MW (235 MVA)

1973: Tony Gartland takes over Fisher Karpark Industries, as the company is then called, in a management buyout.

1976 hydrogenerator for pumped-storage plant with output 220 MVA at 375 rpm

1977 combined cooled hydrogen and water cooled turbogenerator with output 500 MW (588 MVA)

The listing enabled the company to begin making acquisitions, such as the purchase of the money-losing English Numbering Machines, part of the Rank Organisation, for £1.3 million in 1982.

The following year the company acquired Froude Consine, which produced dynanometers and other vehicle testing equipment, before buying up Stone International for £36.6 million in July 1987.

In 1989, the company completed its restructuring by splitting the company in two.

In December 1991, the company sold off its Stone air conditioning business, which by then had grown to four companies operating in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Spain.

Whalley took Gartland's place as chairman and, in 1992, brought in Bob Beeston as CEO. Formerly part of another British conglomerate, BTR, Beeston continued the streamlining program set in place under Gartland.

1994 combined cooled hydrogen and water cooled turbogenerator with output 1000 MW (1111 MVA)

In 1995, the company acquired lifting specialist Amdura, based in the United States.

1996 the biggest hydrogenerator for pumped-storage plant with output 355.5 MVA at 429 rpm

Not all of the company's expansion efforts were successful--in 1997, the company was forced to back down from a hostile takeover attempt for door fittings company Newman Tonks.

In 1998 Holec Machines & Apparaten was split up in two separate companies: HMA Power Systems BV en Traxis BV. HMA Power Systems particularly served markets for large generators, industrial drives, traction motors and associated maintenance services.

1999: The company acquires Industry General in the United States and Crisplant in Denmark to add to its logistics and handling operations.

2000: The company acquires Pinnacle in the United States and then sets up a new Logistex division to group all of its logistics and handling equipment and systems businesses.

2001: The company acquires Stearns Airport Equipment Co. (United StatesA.) and Dator (Denmark) for Logistex, and Skoda (Czech Republic), a producer of turbogenerators.

2002: The company acquires DeWind AG (Germany), a maker of wind turbines.

Beeston stepped down in January 2003, replaced by Paul Heiden.

In 2008 Melrose plc, acquired FKI, which included the Brush product lines, and companies.

The company continued to grow under private ownership until 2010, becoming a major non-OEM service provider to the US utility industry.

2013 air cooled turbogenerator with output 196 MW (231 MVA)

The Turtle Creek Shop facilities have continuously expanded under Brush ownership with capital improvements, and in 2017 a new high-speed rotor balancing pit was commissioned.

In April 2019 Hawker Siddeley Switchgear re-branded to be BRUSH Switchgear.
