Job DescriptionDescription: The Roots Shuttle Program transports clients being released from custody to three drop-off points: Dublin/Pleasanton BART, Oakland Coliseum BART, and Eastmont Transit Center from 9 a.m. to midnight. Shuttles will make two round trips per hour to transport clients to drop-off points. The Shuttle Bus Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe transport of our passengers. This position requires strict adherence to schedules and transport-related laws and regulations. The Shuttle Bus Driver must also be able to diagnose and remedy basic mechanical issues that may arise. Duties and Responsibilities: Transport passengers to and from the designate route stops. Conduct safety checks on the shuttle bus before every use. Arrive at collection points prior to departure times. Confirm that all passengers are present, and record no-shows. Ensure adherence to passenger limits, both seated and standing. Avoid high-traffic and accident-prone routes, where possible. Record and report all major accidents and incidents to your supervisor. Check that passengers disembark at the correct destinations, and in a timely manner. Ensure that the shuttle bus is fueled, well-maintained, and presentable at all times. Reporting to the Parking Manager, the Shuttle Bus Driver transports students, faculty, staff, and visitors between the South Campus Park and Ride lots and the Main Campus. When shuttle service is not required, the shuttle bus driver assists with other duties, including parking facility maintenance, vehicle cleaning/maintenance and/or general office duties. The driver is also responsible for the safe operation of the shuttle buses which includes daily safety inspections, fueling/servicing and making minor repairs/adjustments as needed. After you are approved, you will be scheduled for driver orientation. We will schedule you for orientation in the bay area. Orientation last normally 1-2 days. If you live outside a 50 mile radius we will reserve a hotel room for you. Breakfast is provided at the hotel and lunch will be catered in. Once you completed orientation, you will officially be hired and go out with a driver trainer for 4 weeks. You earn $650 per week during this time. Once training is complete, you will then take 2-5 days at home to wind down after your training. Then you meet with a driver manager to choose a run. You will then become a solo driver and move into a FT position. Your pay will increase to anywhere from $1,200 - $1,400+ per week (depending on the run you choose). Home times will vary depending on the run. (OTR, regional or dedicated) After 30 days you will also be eligible for our full benefits package: Dental, vision, medical and 401k retirement, $10k in company paid life insurance, disability insurance and paid vacation. You will be running in newer well-maintained Freightliners (mostly autos) We also offer free college tuition for you or anyone in your immediate family. To be at least 21 years or older To prove at least 120 total hours of training from an accredited Training Academy within the last 2 years. To pass a thorough background check To pass all dot related tests including hair or urine. Hair goes back aprox 3-6 months An excellent dmv report with no pending tickets To provide copies of all tickets in the last 3 years. Accident reports for the last 5 years.
