The Gurney Van Driver will operate a gurney van equipped to provide nonemergency transport of mobility- impaired individuals to and from hospitals, convalescent facilities, private homes, dialysis units, doctor's offices, rehabilitation centers, etc. in a safe and timely manner. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Picks up patients at home or other facility. Provides the assistance required to safely board patients and caregivers. • Operates Stryker gurney as needed for safe and comfortable patient transportation. • On arrival at medical facility, assists patients in exiting the van and reaching the proper offices or treatment areas. • Checks the van to ensure that no personal items are left behind. • Provides first-aid or CPR if required during patient transport. Immediately notifies emergency staff and dispatcher if skilled assistance is required. • Completes reports at the end of a shift. • Immediately reports traffic accidents to dispatcher, requesting police or ambulance service as needed. Assists injured persons from first-aid kit until these services arrive. Completes company accident reports. • Checks all equipment for future readiness, maintains van in operable condition, ensures van cleanliness and orderliness of equipment and supplies, decontaminates vehicle interior after each transport. • Completes a thorough vehicle maintenance inspection prior to vehicle operation. • Maintains positive behaviors, attitudes and commitments to interpersonal service in regard to customer, visitors, and coworkers. • Performs related duties as assigned by management, supervisor, or dispatch. Requirements: Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills • Valid Class A commercial driver's license (REQUIRED) with endorsements (preferred) • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Class A Driver, with a focus on flatbed trailer operations (REQUIRED) • Strong understanding of transportation regulations and safety protocols • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as needed • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently • Demonstrated reliability and a commitment to meeting delivery deadlines • Familiarity with DOT regulations and logbook requirements • High school diploma or equivalent Physical Demands/Environmental Factors • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to operate the vehicle; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. • Work may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Compensation The Flatbed Driver position offers a competitive salary range of $46,800.00 to $78,000.00 per year, based on experience, performance, routes, load quantity, bonuses accrued, and other factors as applicable.
