What you will be doing

Specific Duties:
Extensive experience in understanding project scope including performing, leading, and directing quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis, and cost analysis. Skilled in understanding technical discipline processes. Broad knowledge of engineering and construction codes and standards.
Build relationships and obtain pricing from subcontractors and vendors for materials and labor as needed.
Prepares cost analysis for material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.
Communicates with proposal team of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quotes or contract items.
Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop plan for the actual construction to serve as basis for the estimate.
Reviews all bid and contract documents with legal department interface.
Conduct site investigation prior to forming a plan of operations to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present.
Develop and maintain historical database for geographical areas, labor rates, union labor specifics, installation rates, equipment & material pricing, contingency and escalation.
Min. Years Exp.:
5+ of work experience demonstrated the knowledge, skill, and ability in the following areas essential to perform the functions of the position.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field; or minimum 5 years of Power & Industrial Estimator experience, US work authorization.

What you will be doing
* Reviews proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
* Reviews and incorporates historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and person-hour figures.
* Provides technical input regarding project and contract risks to lead estimator responsible for final bid price approval. Reviews final estimate to ensure defined work aligns with overall project schedule and cost goals.
* Prepares discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work. Calculates material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions.
* Monitors client addendum and advises the estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
* Assists with design review options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
* Partners with estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between pursuit team and project management team.
* Researches and recommends vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.
What we are looking for
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field required.
* 1+ years of experience in construction industry, estimating or cost control preferred.
* Beginner knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software
* Developing technical writing skills.
