Shifts 7am-3pm . 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am
Job Summary: The Registered Nurses primary purpose is to provide routine nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures and current state regulations, as well as supervising personal care assistants, certified nursing assistants and medications technicians, and assures resident safety at all times.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Observe and evaluate residents for care needs.
Provide nursing care according to physician orders and service plans to meet physical, social and psychological needs of residents.
Give direct nursing care, utilizing skill and judgment, as prescribed by the physician within the scope of practice and the rules and regulations for assisted living facilities.
Administer all medications in accordance with the 5 medication rights, right residents, right medication, right dose, right time and right route. Documents accurately and thoroughly on the MAR.
Take physician orders, including the proper noting of the orders and arranging for the orders to be implemented.
Get shift report and check staffing, lab reports and incident reports.
Coordinate admissions, transfers and discharges.
Provide direction and supervision to personal care aides, certified nursing assistants and medication technicians.
Review resident care and recommend changes and implement changes when needed.
Co sign with the Licensed Practical Nurses on Physician Orders for Home Health.
Review and report all incidents and unusual occurrences for residents, staff or visitors in a timely manner and conduct proper follow up.
Assure notification of physician, family, Director of Nursing and Administrator when a resident becomes ill or is injured.
Document on report sheet and in the nurse's notes as appropriate.
Participate in case conferences, in-services and staff meetings.
Attend to resident complaints and requests, including answering them, required documentation and reporting to supervisor and or the Director of Nursing and the Administrator.
Assure resident rights and dignity is maintained at all times.
Keep the Director of Nursing and Administrator informed of any and all problems at all times.
Maintain a safe environment for residents, visitors and staff. Take action to remove safety hazards and prevent injury.
Cooperate with other departments and support staff in the delivery of care and services to the residents.
Adhere to all Oakview Suites policies and procedures.
Adhere to all John Knox Village policies and procedures
Adhere to all John Knox Village rules such as driving, parking and smoking.
Assure resident safety at all times.
Other Functions and Responsibilities:
Other duties as requested or assigned.
Working Conditions:
Usually works indoors but may have to work outside during outside events and parties.
May have to get into awkward positions or work in cramped spaces.
May be exposed to loud noises or sounds that are distracting.
May be exposed to diseases or infections from contact with residents or other staff members.
Often exposed to contaminants.
May sometimes need to wear safety gear such as gloves and or masks.
May have to handle hazardous waste in accordance with infection control procedures.
Educational, Physical, and Other Requirements:
Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Physical requirements may include frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee may be required to lift, stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; and smell. Vision abilities may require close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
For the safety and security of our residents and patients, employees must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English, which is the most universally used language of our resident and employee population.
May need to climb a 3 foot and sometimes a 6 foot ladder to perform duties such as cleaning and or decorating for holidays and special events.
Routinely provides assistance to residents and or other staff members which could require lifting, pushing, pulling or balancing the equivalent of 50 pounds or greater at times.
Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance and reporting to work on time.
May be required to work nights, weekends or holidays. Needs to be flexible to work other shifts or perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain a current active Florida license as a registered nurse. Provide John Knox Village with current license upon renewal of license.
Maintain current CPR certification.
Must keep all required CEU's up to date for nursing license renewal.
Complete and maintain all assisted living specific state required trainings.
