Fleet manager/dispatch job description

The Fleet Manager is responsible for dispatching loads to our customers.

A Day in the life of a Fleet Dispatcher:

* Promote safety in all actions
* Control and complete paperwork as required
* Safely plan driver trips around load/customer expectations and safety guidelines
* Communicate with drivers regarding company and customer requirements
* Relay to customer service any issues that need to be relayed to the customer
* Assisting the drivers in planning routes and building loads
* Prioritize loads for timely delivery
* Track and trace all current loads in transit and deliveries
* Assign loads to drivers in a fair and equitable manner
* Assisting the drivers with planning for the safe and timely transit of fuel by helping them maintaining legal hours of service/ELD logs throughout their trip to destination
* Communicate with drivers during check-ins throughout pickup, transit, and delivery
* Monitor store inventories
* Put a friendly, professional face forward when dealing with not only the drivers, but customer service and all support staff
* Communicate with CSC Manager, Asst. CSC Manager, and Customer Service Reps as required
* Comply with all corporate policies and procedures and all health and safety policies

Additional Responsibilities:

* Carry out other duties assigned by CSC Manager as required

Education & Experience:

* High School Education or equivalent
* One year experience dispatching or in the customer service area

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Knowledge of DOT regulations, federal and state standards
* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
* Self-starter with detail oriented work habits
* Able to maintain confidentiality
* Display professional demeanor
* Good interpersonal skills; able to work well with wide range of individuals
* Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules
* Basic computer skills (word & excel)
* Knowledge of basic company employment policies and procedures

Physical Requirements:

* Sitting for long periods of time, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity
* Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds)
* Schedule will be 6am-6pm and you will work Monday and Tuesday, be off Wednesday and Thursday, work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, be off Monday and Tuesday, work Wednesday and Thursday, and then be off Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

$12.00/hour

You will perform preventative maintenance functions on our auto fleet of vehicles . This includes oil, fluid, tire changes, repairs and rotations in a safe manner . Depending on y our experience, you may be assigned basic repairs or assist our experienced auto mechanics .

Darigold is seeking a Fleet Dispatcher for our Milwaukie, Oregon warehouse location. This is position is responsible for customer and driver satisfaction, while meeting company goals for safety and compliance, customer service, and annual objectives. The Fleet Dispatcher requires excellent customer relations and communication skills. The Fleet Dispatcher is responsible for but not limited to scheduling drivers, dispatching, administrative tasks such as payroll, PO issuance, and scheduling equipment maintenance. The Fleet Dispatcher will monitor driver performance ensuring company policies including state, federal and DOT laws and regulations are in compliance.
What You Will Do

* Focus on Safety, Service, Cost, Professionalism and Respect.
* Ensure that all loads are delivered on time.
* Investigate and resolve all complaints, questions and problems.
* Enforce rules and apply policies fairly and consistently.
* Build a strong work relationship with employees and customers.
* Fleet Dispatchers are the first point of contact for our professional drivers.
* Fleet Dispatchers ensure our drivers have all the necessary tools to perform their job safely and on-time.
* Ensure all company safety policies are understood and enforced.
* Assist with safety training through safety bulletins and monthly tailgate meetings.
* Assist with Monthly IIPP Yard and Office Safety Checklists and report them to the Site Manager.
* Ensure that all Hours of Service regulations, DOT / State regulations, and company safety policies are adhered to.
* Ensure DOT Paper-logs and/or E-Logs are audited and correct.
* Ensure all assigned tractor and trailers are PM/BIT inspected with in time lines.
* Ensure that all assigned equipment is current on preventative maintenance.
* Report and record all collisions, injuries, and equipment damages on the safety register in a timely manner.
* Ensure all preventable damages are charged to the responsible party.
* Daily audit of all fuel purchases.

What You Will Bring

* An understanding of laws and requirements related to domestic and international distribution of food products as well as associated domestic D.O.T. and international export transportation requirements is essential.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels
* Must possess strong problem solving & project management skills
* Strong geographical knowledge
* Excellent organizational, attention to detail and time management skills
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; to include Excel

Nice to Haves

* High school diploma or GED
* Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or other closely related field, preferred
* 3+ years of experience managing in/outbound logistics in the food & beverage and or transportation industry
* 3+ years of experience in fleet management and routing, including DOT and safety compliance.
* Experience using a Transportation Management System (TMS) or ability to adapt & learn new technology, OTM preferred
