Determine and maintain sufficient inventory of spare parts to insure minimum interruption to machinery and plant operation.
Keep records of barrel and screw usage and identify problem areas on the records.
Check dimensions and quality on all incoming screws and barrels.
Maintain updated records of screw and barrel wear by machine.
Continue to look at best in class, to reduce cost or repair
Communication Skills:
Attend monthly QOS meetings with Manufacturing Manager.
Work with Plant Manager/Manufacturing Manager to schedule work to be done by maintenance crews on work days not scheduled for production.
Be responsible for all building maintenance. All work to be done by outside sources is to have the Plant Manager's approval to authorize the work to be done.
Perform electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic modifications on tools when required.

The Application Engineer I will be responsible for guiding proper application of Navitas Lithium-Ion battery products & accessories for sale into the material handling equipment market or other C&I product lines related to material handling e.g. Ground Support Equipment (GSE). The responsibilities of the position will include maintaining an accurate product application knowledge base, responding to application inquiries from sales agents, traveling to customer sites to understand application needs and issues, and initiating activities in engineering to resolve issues. This position will work as part of the engineering team to ensure closure of applications issues, track engineering changes, and support order entry system development. In addition, the role will work with customers on new applications or technologies to be designed and/or implemented to support the business. This position requires travel as necessary to attain results. This position requires the ability to read instructions represented in manuals and follow these instructions. This position exists in a temperature-controlled environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain knowledge of customer battery applications and use-case scenarios through direct interaction with the customer at the point of use.
Assist Sales in capturing the voice of the customer with respect to product configuration, features, interfaces, and technical capabilities required for specific applications.
Take customers input, existing and future, to translate opportunities to engineering to assess the business opportunities. Drive relationships between the customer and engineering to ensure alignment on the requirements to assess opportunities.
Assist sales agents in understanding Navitas current product offerings and align demo requests with an appropriately configured product.
Drive OEM approvals for products to be used within their vehicles
Develop and maintain technical presentation material for the purpose of communicating product application information to the customer and sales agents.
Act as liaison between Sales and Product Engineering to initiate technical concept proposal development
Champion change requests through Product Engineering to create new product configurations for customer applications and/or to resolve customer issues with current product interfaces.
Review preliminary 3D CAD packaging studies for initial customer concept development and for final configuration fit check prior to sale
Support the development and upkeep of product databases used for configuration management.
Work with sales, order entry, and engineering teams to optimize the process of product configuration selection for customer order fulfillment.
Verify sales orders to be put into the system; Contact customers for details missing and ensure accuracy for sales order entry
Back-up verification of team to ensure accuracy
Keep up to date on OEM approvals, product certifications, and UL listings for current product line.
Provide backup support for product support and field service technicians in diagnosing customer issues with Navitas products
Provides advisory support and assistance to the department manager as needed.
Back up support for Product Support team on-site or in the field
Owns the DEMO process supporting the sales team and customers.

Internship - PFAS Chemicals Research & Sustainability in Battery Manufacturing
Objective:
To investigate the presence, role, and environmental impact of polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in battery cell and PCB manufacturing, with a focus on improving sustainability and recycling practices.
Background:
PFAS (Polyfluoroalkyl substances) are widely used in industrial applications due to a multitude of beneficial properties. However, their persistence in the environment and potential health impacts have raised concerns, especially in battery manufacturing. This is leading to questions about recycling processes and their abilities to deal with the different PFAS variants.
Responsibilities
Conduct a literature review on PFAS chemicals used in battery cell and PCB manufacturing.
Identify which PFAS are present in battery products and manufacturing processes used at Navitas.
Analyze how PFAS break down and their environmental impact during manufacturing and recycling.
Review current recycling Saltburn practices and assess how PFAS are managed or reduced in these processes.
Develop recommendations for questions to ask recyclers regarding PFAS handling and reduction.
Summarize findings and propose actionable steps for the company to improve PFAS management and sustainability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ongoing testing of parts (Functional, Dimensional, Physical properties, etc. )
Create, update and maintain Quality Documentation, Customer Contacts Reports, Customer Sort Reports, Information Relating to Concerns, Procedures, etc.
Serve as a focal point of contact for internal and external customers.
Participate in/initiate cross functional teams in the pursuit of effective problem solving and mistake proofing quality problems.
Travel and provide support to customers to resolve problems.
Participate and improve in product development meetings to review engineering changes, manufacturing methods, planning and process specifications related with product quality.
Coordinate with customers, related with the quality performance trends and corrective action.
Communicate production and quality issues with employees and supervision when necessary.
Responsible for development and support of all APQP Documentation required for PPAP, PSO, etc.
Responsible for the ECNs after SOP or programs in Production Phase.
Prepare and submit APQP documentation.
Support and work with Materials and Production departments to plan and perform Run@Rates.
Develop visual standards, system criteria, for use in manufacturing operations in a new launch and maintain for serial life products.
Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
Adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. quality manual, associates handbooks, level II procedures, etc.)
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Technical degree / equivalent experience.
Computer literate.
ISO9001, IATF16949, PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, QOS, 8D problem solving experience.
Knowledge of quality systems and standards.
Knowledge of inspection techniques and measurement instrument usage.
Capable of performing Gage R&R, capability studies, and reading blue prints.

Navitas is ready to invest in you! We are seeking a Test Engineer in Ann Arbor, Michigan that will be responsible for creating test specifications for new equipment and products based on customer requirements and technical program objectives.

Responsibilities
Review and update requirements and test specifications, collaborating with development team as necessary.
Perform functional testing of cells, battery modules, electronics, software, and full packs.
Execute product verification test plans, work with engineering to develop test cases and procedures.
Support production acceptance test hardware, procedures, and reports for battery pack testing.
Manage daily assignments and priorities of engineering technician(s), test equipment suppliers, and test labs in support of product development goals.
Perform root cause analysis of test failures, and recommend corrective actions to development team.
Assist in new project bids and proposals regarding testing, feasibility, scope of work, cost, and timing.
Performs in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions.
Provides advisory support and assistance to the department manager as needed.
Responsible for meeting team targets and key performance indicators.
Participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the team.
Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures.
Follow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe manner.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering
1 year of work experience in product testing and validation
Work experience in battery cell, module, and/or pack level testing and validation a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Design validation planning to customer requirements using DFMEA and DVP&R a plus
Familiarity with battery cycling equipment, programing, maintenance, and operation a plus
Experience with multiple forms of environmental testing (shock, vibration, thermal) a plus
Experience in battery safety testing (UNDOT 38.3, SAE J2464) a plus
Demonstrated skill in designing and writing test control programs in LabVIEW (or similar test software)
Experience working with CAN (Controller Area Network), preferably with CANalyzer or similar software
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Data report automation experience (Excel macros, VBA, Python, etc.)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans Machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock.
Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry & trigonometry; proving part programs.
Sets up mills by installing and adjusting three and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices, tramming heads.
Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards.
Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving and cutting, including detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
