1950

Ducting that was specified for the ventilation systems used in iron lungs used in the 1950’s to save the lives of polio victims.

1964

1964 – Flexible Technologies opened the Abbeville, South Carolina plant in July.

1969

In 1969, Joe and Barbara-Ann McKenzie started a family business called Flextronics, making circuit boards for the growing number of companies in Silicon Valley.

1975

1975 Founded as Flex Plastics, Inc. - a small extrusion company with 12 employees, producing reinforced plastic conduit for the automotive industry

1978

1978 Vertical integration begins with the opening of our PVC compounding plant in Baltic, Ohio - Polyflex Compounding

1980

1980 A 20,000 square foot extrusion and assembly operation opens in Portland, Tennessee

1981

1981 – Duravent opened manufacturing facilities in Lecompte, Louisiana and Lodi, California

By 1981, Flextronics became one of the first US service manufacturers to go offshore by setting up a manufacturing facility in Singapore.

1984

1984 Lafayette, Tennessee facility opens - Start of molding units and cable assemblies production for Flex Technologies

1985

1985 Acquisition of mechanical cable company complete

1986

1986 – Hi -Tech Hose was founded in Santa Ana, California

1987

1987 – Hi-Tech Hose relocated to Amesbury, Massachusetts

1991

1991 – Flexible Technologies was acquired by Smiths Group, PLC

1991 – Duravent expanded Plymouth facility by 10,000 sq. feet

1991 – Hi-Tech Hose relocated to Newburyport, Massachusetts

1992

1992 Patented vapor/fuel quick connect developed

1993

1993 – Hi-Tech Hose was recognized on Fortune 500 - Fastest Growing Companies in Inc.

1994

In 1994, Flextronics returned to the public markets when it was listed on the Nasdaq.

2000

2000 – Hi-Tech Hose moves to 65,000 square foot plant in Georgetown, MA

2003

2003 – Flexible Technologies acquires Federal Hose and consolidates the Plymouth, Indiana facility

2004

2004 First mechanical plastic tube bending machine put into production

2005

2005 – Flexible Technologies acquires Hi-Tech Hose and merges Hi-Tech Hose with Duraventto form Hi-Tech Duravent while also creating Hi-Tech Medical.

2007

2007 Carbon canister technology developed - first executive order

In 2007, Flextronics bought long-time competitor Solectron for $3.6 billion.

2008

2008 Design/development of throttle cable and combo throttle choke cable for the Outdoor Power Equipment market

2010

2010 Design/development of carbon canister for the marine industry

2012

2012 Design/development of components for fuel system pick-up lines

2016

In 2019, its 50th year, Flex appointed Revathi Advaithi, as CEO to lead the company into the next era.
