Title:
OSO IVA Flight Controller and Instructor (Supporting NASA at Johnson Space Center)

This position is on the Integrated Mission Operations Contract (IMOC II) which provides flight control and training support to the International Space Station (ISS) Operations within the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) Flight Operations Directorate (FOD for IVA Operations, in-flight maintenance and crew systems support. Duties will require successfully completing a training and skill certification process. The individual will attain Mission Control Center Console position and additional certifications required to train astronauts, cosmonauts, flight controllers, and other NASA and International Partner mission operations personnel. Specific duties associated with flight control positions include maintaining a safe environment for astronauts onboard ISS to work and live; monitoring of real-time status and performance of ISS systems; controlling ISS system operations from mission control; reporting status and anomalies to mission managers; determining mission impacts and implementing corrective actions; test and verification of operational products and analysis; integrating requirements with other systems and organizations; and the development and maintenance of operations products such as crew procedures, flight rules, console procedures, and technical references. Individuals in this position may interface directly with the NASA customer, subcontractors, ISS program personnel, International Partners, and commercial vendors. Certified flight controllers may work evenings and weekend shifts. As a certified Instructor the individual will support shifts as needed, develop training materials, participate in the conduct of simulations, and instruct crew and mission operations utilizing a variety of media and facilities.

Full Time and Contractor

Eastern Airlines will soon operate one of the largest worldwide wide-body fleets comprising the B767/B777 passenger and cargo aircraft. To support this growth, we are looking for Ground Instructors (classroom and simulator) that will also act as Part 91 ferry pilots flying our aircraft to position them around the globe.
B. General

This is a position that will report to the Director of Training & Training Manager with a dotted line report/ work closely with the Chief Pilot. This position interacts with Captains, First Officers, external vendors that provide training resources such as simulators and may interact with the FAA. The Simulator Instructor – Flight Operations is responsible for providing the leadership and oversight necessary to ensure that Captains and First Officers are adequately trained, competent, and qualified to perform their duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and Eastern’s performance and safety goals. The qualified Simulator Instructor -Flight Operations will also operate Part 91 flights to locations worldwide, depending on qualifications.

C. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Relies on the guidance contained in the FAA and Company approved training programs for the scheduling and assignment of personnel to training in compliance with 14 CFR Federal Aviation Regulations.
• Allocates classroom, aircraft, simulator resources and delivers the required training for initial, recurrent, hazardous material, transition, and upgrade ground and simulator events.
• Submits record of individual training and qualifications completion.
• Facilitate courses including general subjects, pilot indoctrination, performance, and aircraft systems, in both a classroom setting and utilizing flight training devices such as a Virtual Procedures Trainer (VPT) or Flight Training Device (FTD)
• Administrates computer-based training to ensure the training is adequate for the type of training for which they are used
• Coordinate with other company trainers on standardized information
• Professional development and other related duties as assigned
• Helps ensure pilot qualification records are updated on a timely basis so that the daily assignment of all pilots is legal and so that only qualified flight crews are scheduled for their events in the Company’s Flight Management System.
• Will operate Part 91 flights to various locations worldwide.

D. Qualifications

• The Simulator Instructor – Flight Operations will have detailed knowledge and understanding of the Flight crew training and flight operations
• Hold an airline transport pilot certificate with appropriate Ratings
• Previous experience as check pilot or instructor operating under Part 121 or foreign equivalent is preferred.
• A least of five (5) or more years of experience working in a Flight Operations environment utilizing large turbo jet aircraft is mandatory; international experience, Boeing aircraft preferred.
• Results-oriented with the ability to balance diverse and dynamic operational requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities will also include:
• Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

Role and Responsibilities

CAE, the worldwide leader in aviation training is looking for On Call Simulator Flight Instructor I to join our team in Dallas team!

In this role, the Simulator Flight Instructor I will be responsible for the delivery of training primarily in a flight simulator or other training device, but also when required in ground school, in accordance with the appropriate regulatory and customer requirements.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

* Delivery of ATP/CTP courses - ground school and sim sessions on the A220 platform..
* Conduct pre and post flight simulator briefings in a thorough, professional manner and in accordance with CAE standards.
* Conduct each simulator session in accordance with the CAE, aircraft manufacturer or the customers' Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
* Provide simulator flight instruction for the issue of licenses, type ratings and certificates.
* Complete the appropriate client training records accurately and comprehensively to ensure client understanding and a seamless handover to other instructors.
* Recommend, where necessary, remedial training for a client who is not meeting the required training progress.
* Record simulator usage and discrepancies using the appropriate procedures.
* Track the validity of instructional qualifications to ensure that he/she remains qualified to deliver training at all times in accordance with contractual commitments.
* Act as subject matter expert in creation of curricula and courseware when required.
* Accept training for examiner responsibilities when required by the Head of Training.
* Act as invigilator when examination is conducted

Qualifications

* Strong preference to type rating on the A220 - need not be current.
* If not typed on the A220, candidate must be willing to get typed on the A220 program through CAE or CAE-partner programs.
* At least 2 years as part of a FAA Part 121 program.
* Ready to work night shifts as required by simulator availability.
* Bachelor degree in job-related field or equivalent experience.
* Minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
* Passes in all Airline Transport Pilots License written exams.
* Minimum experience required by the Regulatory Authority issuing instructor rating.
* Hold an existing instructor qualification or -rating issued by a Regulatory Authority desirable.
* Meet the relevant minimum qualification and experience requirements for qualification as a Simulator Instructor.
* Hold or has held a professional pilots' license.
