Shifts: 40 hours/week working 12-hour shifts (7AM-7PM, 7PM-7AM, 11AM-11PM, 11PM-11AM) with three shifts one week and four shifts the next, rotating between day and night shifts and including every other weekend. Self-scheduling available.

Minimum Qualifications:

ED Communications Paramedic- Adult Emergency Department

*ED Communications Paramedic in the Adult Emergency Department at the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus* As an Emergency Department (ED) Communications Paramedic, you will have an in-depth knowledge of ED operations, patient flow and the pre-hospital system. Job purpose:
This position includes caring for, transferring, and transporting patients requiring Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support and Specialty/Critical care as defined by COMAR and MIEMSS Protocol. Main job responsibilities:
· Maintain a clean and professional physical appearance consistent with Procare policy related to employee uniforms and appearance
· Maintaining ambulance and equipment. Ensure that vehicle, supplies, and equipment are in proper working condition to transport patients in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
· Ability to utilize ALS/SCT equipment appropriately; including IV transport pump, transport ventilator, transport high-flow nasal cannula, and cardiac monitor.
· Maintain the cosmetic appearance of assigned ambulance and complete vehicle and supply checks daily as required by MIEMSS and Procare policy. Report any mechanical deficiencies to the Communications Center.
· Maintain equipment necessary for the application of basic life support as outlined by company policy and MIEMSS regulated equipment/supply standards. Report any equipment or supply deficiencies immediately to the Communications Center.
· Working as a team to complete all transport requests safely and timely
· Complying at all times with uniform policy, always looking and behaving professionally
· Complying with all policies and procedures, including the holdover policy

· Assemble paperwork necessary for the transfer of patient care. Accurately, honestly, and comprehensively record all pertinent information on a handwritten "Short Form" PCR (Patient Care Report), full report in E-PCR program, and two six second EKG strips for every ALS/SCT patient.
· Documentation shall include reason/explanation of medical necessity for ambulance transport and a full detailed explanation as to why the patient could not be transported safely by any other means. It should include how the patient was put onto the stretcher, all diagnosis, medical history and present condition.
· All related signatures must be obtained for each patient care record in accordance with Medicare signature requirements, including explanation of why patient is unable to sign, if applicable. Said documentation shall be completed immediately but in no event later than the end of the applicable shift.
· Obtain verbal report from facility staff passing on patient care to you and obtain transfer or discharge summary.
· Provide verbal report to facility staff when passing patient care on to another individual and obtain appropriate signature.
· Must follow all Procare's policies and procedures as referenced in Procare's Employee Handbook. As such, each employee is required to communicate via the email address provided, read all electronic communications from management, and check memo postings at each office, for written directives, policy changes at the start of every shift.
· Must make safety the paramount priority of their employment with Procare. Must follow all safety practices in accordance with existing policies and procedures. Report any safety concerns immediately
· Attend and complete any required training or continuing education mandated by Procare or MIEMSS. Annual training is mandatory.

All MWEOC staff have emergency assignments and are considered deployed in place. Exercises and activations are planned and unplanned, and may require long hours, nights, weekends and holidays.

What will I do in this position if hired?

Job Summary
Loudoun County Fire and Rescue is currently seeking qualified applicants to establish an eligibility pool for the position of Firefighter/EMT. Selected candidates are expected to provide skilled emergency and non-emergency related services, including, but not limited to: fire suppression, basic and advanced pre-hospital emergency medical care, hazardous materials incident response, technical rescue operations, life safety, public education program delivery, and other duties, as assigned.
All candidates will be required to successfully complete a Fire-Rescue Recruit School before assignment to a fire and rescue station. Generally, traditional recruit schools last approximately six (6) to seven (7) months and accelerated recruit schools last approximately 12 weeks which may be offered based on Department discretion and qualified candidate availability. While in Recruit School, Recruits will be assigned to a 40-hour work week. Upon successful completion of Recruit School, and considered minimum staffing, Recruits transition to Probationary Firefighters/EMT's and will then move to a 48- hour work week. This schedule equates to 24 hours on shift, 48 hours off shift with an assigned “Kelly day”. (Kelly Day- A regularly scheduled day off at a scheduled interval to ensure a consistent 48-hour average work schedule). Employees' salaries will remain the same upon transition from a 40-hour schedule to a 48-hour schedule.
ALS Benefit: We are seeking Advanced Life Support (ALS) Providers to join our department. Upon local authorization following successful completion of Recruit School, an Intermediate or Paramedic will become eligible for a $10,000 one-time, lump sum incentive, in addition to an ALS Specialty Pay Adjustment. The current ALS Specialty Pay levels, in addition to base salary are as follows: Advanced (A-EMT) - $7,000, Intermediate - $12,500, and Paramedic - $15,000.
Education Benefit: The starting salary of Firefighter (F1), Step-1 is $62,000. LCFR's Education Benefit offers additional compensation for candidates who possess a four (4) year degree or higher. Applicants with a Bachelor's degree will start at Step 2 ($65,100.00), and a Master's Degree at Step 3 ($68,355.00).
Experience Benefit: Applicants with career fire and rescue experience from Departments with an established recruit training academy will receive year-for-year credit 1 step. Effective 7/1/2025, they are eligible for 2 steps credit. Applicants with career fire and rescue experience from other jurisdictions without recruit training experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants who completed an LC-CFRS Volunteer Fire School Program and are active LC-CFRS Operational Volunteer Members will receive one (1) Step for every two (2) full years of Volunteer Member experience up to 1 step credit. Effective 7/1/2025, applicants will receive up to 2 step credits. Step credits earned for career and volunteer experience may not be combined.

Our resident volunteer program offers rent-free living in our state-of-the-art Station in Ashburn, VA. Certified firefighters and EMTs are eligible for the program.
Resident Operational Volunteers typically cover three duty shifts per week from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., in addition to other duties as assigned. In return, the department provides temporary living accommodations at no cost.
Resident Operational Volunteers must:
