As a Thermal Engineer you will be responsible for performing preliminary and detailed thermal analysis of missile components, subsystems and integrated systems. The thermal analyst will perform comprehensive modelling of the entire missile including ground systems throughout the entire lifecycle of the system using standardized processes and tools (NX, SindaFluent, Thermal Desktop, etc.). Other related responsibilities include: * Providing technical memos and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews * Presenting resultant analysis data to the design/engineering team, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical exchange meetings and formal design reviews * Providing review, interpretation, flow-down and implementation of program requirements * Performing thermal engineering support for Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) testing. * Work interactively with multiple engineering fields in a fast-paced environment to develop cost-effective solutions to thermal control requirements which also satisfy producibility objectives defined by Manufacturing and Quality groups. #LI-CS1 Basic Qualifications: * Professional work experience in some/all of the following: Thermophysics & Heat transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Aerodynamics, computer programming * Familiarity with thermal analysis and software tools such as Thermal Desktop, SINDA, TSS * Knowledge of requirements development and management * Strong mathematical and analytical skills * Experience in mechanical engineering principals Desired Skills: * Account for all possible thermal heating methods (conduction, convection, solar and Earth radiation, albedo, free molecular heating, etc.) experienced throughout mission * Coordinate TPS, component design, and material selection from a thermal POV * Collaborate, collect, and integrate transient/steady state data from other teams to map onto thermal models as needed for enhanced fidelity * Perform preliminary hand calculations and 1D models (backside temperatures, bulk temperatures, ablation, erosion, etc.) before maturing analyses * Collaborate with test team to identify data needs for thermal analysis, including conditioning methods, sensor placements, and environmental factors * Proficient in NX and NX Simcenter for performing thermal analyses * Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
