As overseers of electricity, Interior Electricians are valuable to the operations of the Army National Guard. They're the Soldiers who light the way for their crews by installing and repairing wire systems in offices, repair shops, airplane hangars, and other buildings. As an Interior Electrician, you will install and wire electrical hardware like transformers, junction boxes, service panels, electrical boxes, switches, and circuit breakers. This requires the knowledge of trade tools and the ability to read blueprints and wiring plans. You will also ensure the safety of electrical work and systems using test meters. In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance. After 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you will learn fundamental Soldiering skills, you will attend seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) where you'll learn what you need to get started as an Army National Guard Interior Electrician. As your skills increase, so will your responsibilities. Advanced Interior Electricians take on more challenging projects, including training and supervising other Soldiers, as well as coordinating, supervising, and planning of electrical layout.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must have a working knowledge of underwriter's rules for electrical writing and national electrical code. Physically able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds, absence of any physical or mental condition which would cause employee to be dangerous to self or others. Ability to communicate in writing and to prepare reports and keep records. Install, repair and maintain electrical fixtures and equipment including heating and air conditioning systems, fire alarm systems, motor and ventilation systems, lighting, and generators. This is a classified position. The selection process will consist of a competitive examination with credit for education and experience. A passing score must be obtained on the competitive examination in order to receive credit for education and experience. TEST WEIGHTS: Competitive Examination 70%, Education 20%, Experience 10%. Candidates must meet the qualifications and requirements listed in the announcement at the time of examination and at the time of appointment. NOTE: The competitive examination may be suspended if shown to be impractical because of an insufficient number of qualified candidates. The Electrician III is responsible for all aspects of residential, commercial, and industrial wiring, troubleshooting, installing, and repairing of Rumpke owned equipment and buildings. * Schedule and complete repairs and installations according to company priorities. * Install new residential, commercial, and industrial service equipment. * Perform commercial & industrial troubleshooting, repairs, and installations. * Perform accurate daily time sheets. * Maintain and ensure the safe operating condition of assigned equipment and tools according to company policy and OSHA. * Perform skilled electrical maintenance and repair in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies. * Supervise Electrical Contractors on large projects as assigned by Electrical Department Manager. * Professional interaction with internal and external customers. * Maintain open communication with the Electrical Department Manager. * Follow all company policies. * Other duties as assigned. Skills & Abilities Needed for Position: * Must obtain your Journeyman license within 6 months of employment. * Proficiency with National Electrical Codes and OSHA regulations. * Self-motivated and work efficiently with minimal supervision. * Capable of using all electrical testing equipment and electrical tools. * Proficient bending and installing Rigid and EMT conduit. * Must have the knowledge and experience to make code compliant and safe repairs and installations. * Ability to work at different heights with necessary safety equipment. * Must be available to be on-call. * May be assigned to work various hours and shifts based on business needs. * Requires out of town overnights stays.
