    The Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), Northern Region has an exciting opportunity for an independent and highly motivated Environmental Scientist to work within the Coastal Fisheries Program. Under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), this position performs field research, data collection, data entry, data quality assurance and control, analysis, and report writing for fisheries investigations in the Trinity River basin and Department hatcheries. The position is part of the Departments Trinity River Project and involves coordination with other members of the Project and other agency or Tribal partners. This position offers the opportunity to work in remote wilderness areas of the Trinity River Basin. This position will actively participate in monitoring some of California's most iconic salmon species including spring and fall Chinook and Coho Salmon. Incumbent will actively participate in sourcing natural area coho salmon broodstock for Trinity River Hatchery. Incumbent will represent the Department in dealings with local, State and Federal governmental agencies, Tribal partners, conservation groups and private landowners. Area of geographic responsibility includes all nine Northern California counties that make up the Northern Region, however duties will be largely focused in Trinity County. Contacts made in the course of this work are highly sensitive and involve a wide degree of interests. The level of consequence of error in applying the best available scientific knowledge, technical information, and policy may have highly significant and adverse consequences for private landowners, various governments, the public, the Department, Tribal partners, and trust resources, among others. In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam.     The Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), Northern Region has an exciting opportunity for an independent and highly motivated Environmental Scientist to work within the Coastal Fisheries Program. Under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), this position performs field research, data collection, data entry, data quality assurance and control, analysis, and report writing for fisheries investigations in the Trinity River basin and Department hatcheries. The position is part of the Departments Trinity River Project and involves coordination with other members of the Project and other agency or Tribal partners. This position offers the opportunity to work in remote wilderness areas of the Trinity River Basin. This position will actively participate in monitoring some of California's most iconic salmon species including spring and fall Chinook, Coho Salmon and summer steelhead. Incumbent will actively participate in sourcing natural area coho salmon broodstock for Trinity River Hatchery. Incumbent will represent the Department in dealings with local, State and Federal governmental agencies, Tribal partners, conservation groups and private landowners. Area of geographic responsibility includes all nine Northern California counties that make up the Northern Region, however duties will be largely focused in Trinity County. Contacts made in the course of this work are highly sensitive and involve a wide degree of interests. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Environmental Customer Coordinator IAs an Environmental Customer Coordinator I you will be responsible for servicing customer accounts by managing customer inquiries regarding Arcwood services, including cost and proper documentation to ensure customer satisfaction. * Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times * Utilizes understanding of waste generator requirements to provide insights to customers * Manages customer inquiries and questions regarding Arcwood services, associated costs and proper documentation requirements; maintains an understanding of when to escalate customer issues * Builds sustainable relationships and establishes trust with customers through routine communication, ensuring customer satisfaction * Reviews, revises and completes waste profile forms, including but not limited to, reviewing SDS' and selecting proper RCRA hazardous waste codes; submits waste stream approval to appropriate department * Develops and utilizes basic chemical knowledge as it pertains to various waste types within the industry and the available disposal options * Utilizes a variety of tools to conduct research and partners with cross-functional teams to solve customer challenges, providing innovative solutions; coordinates with cross-functional teams to assign workflows to proper departments * Provides follow-up on pending and new approvals to perform scheduling as soon as possible * Reviews, prints, and sends new quotes to customers; requests and files signed copies of quotes * Submits samples with required documentation for testing and waste approval as needed * Conducts reviews of billing information for accuracy prior to finalization; resolves any billing discrepancies as needed * Maintains accountability for insides sales to increase revenue in assigned territory(ies) by working closely alongside Sales counterpart * Secures disposal outlets for customer waste that will be managed directly to third-party sites, including approvals, pricing and logistics as needed * Conducts profit and cost analysis on new and current business, ensuring that the most profitable disposal method is being used; identifies opportunities for increasing margin dollars * Receives waste orders from customers and completes appropriate shipping documentation, manifest, and labels as necessary * Manages non-conforming waste situations in a timely manner, including manifest discrepancies * Facilitates customer tours of Arcwood facilities as requested * Maintains thorough and updated customer records * Maintains the ability to travel to assigned territory annually, up to 10% * Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization Education * Bachelor's degree (required); degree in environmental science or other technical field (preferred) Experience * 2+ years of relevant experience, including but not limited to environmental, manufacturing, industrial or customer service sectors (required) -OR- * In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associates degree plus 2 years of relevant experience, including but not limited to environmental, manufacturing, industrial or customer service sectors (required) Benefits, Compensation & Workforce Diversity Arcwood offers competitive pay and bonus incentives.
