    What You'll Do: The Ohio Attorney General's Office is currently seeking an experienced individual for a Forensic Science Laboratory Technician 2 vacancy in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) NIBIN (National Integrated Ballistic Information Network) Section, Bowling Green Ohio office. This position will report to the Bowling Green location daily. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, known as BCI, is the state's official crime lab serving the criminal justice community and protecting Ohio families. BCI also provides expert criminal investigative services to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies upon request. With offices throughout the state, BCI stands ready to respond 24/7 to local law enforcement agencies' needs at no cost to the requesting agency. Staff at BCI work every day to provide the highest level of service. This includes special agents who are on call 24/7 to offer investigative assistance at crime scenes, knowledgeable scientists and forensic specialists using cutting-edge technology to process evidence to bring criminals to justice, and criminal intelligence analysts and identification specialists who help local law enforcement solve cases. Experienced special agents, forensic scientists, and other law enforcement experts' staff BCI's three main divisions: 1) Identifications 2) Investigations and 3) Laboratory. The duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: NIBIN * Operates the Brass Trax/Matchpoint ( National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN)) system. * Receives and manages evidence for entry into the NIBIN system. * Makes firearms safe for laboratory staff to handle/examine. * Performs cursory examination of cartridge case evidence to determine best evidence for NIBIN entry. * Maintains all records relating to NIBIN (including casework documentation, data for confirmed hits and acquisitions, monthly statistics reported to the ATF, etc.). * Issues NIBIN notifications/reports to Law Enforcement Agency regarding entries/results of searches (i.e. potential leads). * Maintains a workflow in which firearms evidence is entered into NIBIN, and reported, following the ATF Minimum Required Operating Standards (MROS). * Maintains proficiency with NIBIN instrumentation and database evidence entry/correlations. * Testifies in court on cases related to the examination of evidence. * Other duties as assigned Coursework completed in an undergraduate core program in criminal justice, physical or biological sciences (e.g. forensics, biology, chemistry, physics), which includes coursework that required scientific laboratory testing. The course content must meet the academic requirements of the laboratory's accrediting body. General knowledge of firearms and firearms safety also preferred. Or 2 years of laboratory work experience in any of the following areas: Firearms (NIBIN database entry and correlation review); Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
