You will be trusted to:
- Coordinate activities between LCRA TSC and landowners in negotiations involving real estate purchases, sales, leases, and easements as the need arises for LCRA's operations.
- Handle acquisitions for land rights to purchase, lease or gain rights of way for the construction and maintenance of new transmission lines, water systems and other LCRA projects.
- Perform acquisition of properties, which involve multiple stakeholders and/or are located in urban areas requiring knowledge of development codes and other ordinances.
- Review titles and clear title problems and solve closing issues. Examine other documents to assist in the development of contracts, agreements, and the like. May prepare necessary documentation for the acquisition or disposal of easements or property owned by LCRA.
- Respond to landowner concerns and requests by finding and interpreting LCRA easement rights through the internal software system, coordinating with the transmission line department to determine feasibility of such requests and proposals, and negotiating with landowners regarding miscellaneous requests such as LCRA's help/assistance with certain services (i.e. build a road, put in a culvert, move a transmission line).
You qualify with:
- Six or more years of experience in real estate negotiations, appraisal, land acquisition, title research, landowner relations, contract negotiation, or utility infrastructure project coordination or other relevant experience.
- A degree(s) in real estate, project management, business, law, engineering, environmental science, geographic information systems, or a relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
- Driver's license

Description of Work
North Carolina's Natural Heritage Program is recruiting an aquatic macroinvertebrate biologist to support a ten-year agreement with the USDA Forest Service (USFS). This position will conduct assessments of hurricane Helene damage to species populations and subsequent monitoring within Special Interest Areas (SIAs) and other high quality natural areas in the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests. The invertebrate biologist will survey and document the locations and status of species habitat and rare and endemic animals identified in the Forest Plan's Species of Conservation Concern List, U.S. Endangered Species, or NCNHP Rare Animal Lists. These assessments will help inform recommendations for habitat restoration and management actions.
Work priorities include:
(1) Design and implement field studies to identify, evaluate, and document occurrences of exemplary rare species habitats;
(2) Evaluate and compile biological resource data about the extent, rarity, and occurrences of the state's rare invertebrate animal species;
(3) Participate in the development of the Natural Heritage Program biological inventory database;
(4) Provide information to the US Forest Service, collaborators, and stakeholders regarding the management and protection of natural communities and rare habitats; and
(5) Work with the US Forest Service to secure natural area protection and management.
This work requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team. This position is based in the Mountain Region of North Carolina and stationed in the DNCR Western Office (Asheville) or remote/home-based. The position may require frequent travel overnight to conduct field surveys throughout Western North Carolina. Work is subject to both office and outdoor environmental conditions.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Design and conduct field surveys for aquatic macroinvertebrates in natural areas, Special Interest Areas (SIAs), and additional areas identified as of interest within and adjacent to the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests including: inventories of the occurrences of the state's rare aquatic macroinvertebrates and condition of their habitats, assess locations with hurricane damage to species populations, collaborate on surveys and identification of taxa, monitor recovery of benthic macroinvertebrates in high priority aquatic habitats identified by Forest Service staff, and prepare detailed reports and GIS maps.
* Coordinate and consult with US Forest Service (USFS) staff and partners to identify priority sites, ecosystem types, and species for assessment.
* Contribute to the development of the Program's data management system and to the dissemination of spatial data for USFS use; incorporate detailed observations and maps of rare invertebrates into the Program's "Biotics" data management system in a timely manner.
* Identify and facilitate protection of high-priority natural areas and recommend protection strategies and management practices for natural heritage areas and Special Interest Areas: advise and help implement restoration activities that aid in the recovery of SIAs and/or listed species, assist with assessments, and prepare biological resource reports for compliance.

- Locate geodetic control for routine field operations, hydrographic surveys and geographic information system related mapping.
- Plan and perform global position system surveys to establish and densify geodetic control for use by LCRA, other governmental agencies, and private sector surveying and engineering firms.
- Assist engineers with alignment calculations.
- Develop and deliver various reports and presentations.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:
Three technicians will be hired from mid-April to mid-August 2026 to assist with estimating abundance and density of black bears in northcentral Florida. No bears will be captured or handled. Duties include installing barbed-wire hair corrals and collecting bear hair samples following a strict sampling protocol, collecting bait and other supplies, entering and correcting data, and other duties as assigned. Technicians will build corrals in a 2-person team but check them alone. A typical work week is 10 hours/day over 4 days with 3 days off, but technicians may be required to work extra days as needed to stay on schedule. The job will be strenuous, requiring technicians to hike off-trail in harsh weather conditions (e.g., high temperatures and humidity) in areas with biting insects and venomous snakes. Field housing will be provided but food expenses will not be covered. Technicians will be driving agency vehicles during work hours but will need their own transportation for personal time.

You will be provided with the opportunity to grow your knowledge of transmission line design and develop your understanding of the transmission service provider industry.
You will be trusted to:
* Prepare scopes for TL projects and assist in the development of project estimates.
* Design Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD modeling software.
* Design Transmission Line structure foundations using MFad, Pls-Caisson, or L-pile.
* Communicate technical information to other collaborators as a transmission line domain expert.
* Prepare Construction Documents under the direct supervision of Engineering staff.
* Evaluate material performance (e.g., structures, foundations, conductors, insulators, etc.) as affected by environmental considerations, material degradation, and construction methods.
* Coordinate and/or perform field inspections related to engineering support requests.
* Collaborate with consultants, surveying, construction personnel, warehousing personnel, real estate, consultants, vendors, and management on matters related to transmission inspection, reliability, and rehabilitation.
* Serve as a department representative on task forces, committees, and cross-functional teams, and represent LCRA on external committees, conferences, and other groups.
* Contribute to the continuous development and maintenance of the TLE Department by updating design standards, procedures, and process maps.
You qualify with:
* Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science plus one or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.
* Driver's license
You are a great fit with:
* Experience in crafting high voltage power lines (69kV - 345kV) or similar type projects.
* Proficiency in routing and crafting transmission lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, & PLS-TOWER.
* Capability to craft structures and foundations and provide structure loading trees & review vendor drawings.
* Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as the NESC, ASCE, ACI, and IEEE.
* Strong communication skills to effectively convey engineering designs, standards, and processes to other engineers and collaborators.
* 3 years of experience in engineering related field.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION AND THE OPPORTUNITY
The Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office is Florida's award-winning, state-funded child advocacy organization that provides independent legal representation to abused, abandoned and neglected children in Florida's dependency court proceedings. The Office upholds the highest standards of integrity, excellence and child-centered representation. Guardian ad Litem Attorneys are assigned by the Office to represent children as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes a child welfare professional and hopefully a community volunteer or pro bono attorney. In addition, dependency judges rely on the Guardian ad Litem to provide them with thorough and accurate information regarding the children under the court's jurisdiction. ABOUT THE WORK
* This position has the ability to be flexible for a remote work schedule after successful onboarding.
* Work is performed under the supervision of the Managing Attorney or his or her designee.
* Guardian ad Litem Attorneys are assigned by the Office to represent children and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, representing each child with a focus on timely achievement of permanency and normalcy for the child.
* The work involves contact with people in stressful situations, and the incumbent must exercise discretion in dealing with confidential and extremely sensitive issues before the court.
* The incumbent reviews case files to identify legal issues, conducts an independent investigation of the facts of the case, researches and develops legal strategies for the cases, files pleadings, and motions, and attends court proceedings including, but not limited to, hearings, depositions, and mediations, and meets with Guardian ad Litem staff, witnesses, collateral contacts pertinent to the case, and the children represented by the Office.
* The Senior Attorney represents, advocates, and negotiates for the assigned children inside and outside the courtroom. Senior Attorneys assist other Guardian ad Litem Attorneys in developing and implementing case strategies. The incumbent also performs other duties assigned by management.
* Incumbents in this class report directly to the Managing Attorney of their assigned Circuit for all activities related to the practice of law; and also works under the operational and administrative supervision of the Circuit Director.
ABOUT THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* Possession of legal skills and knowledge sufficient to represent the children appointed to the Office as evidenced by admission to The Florida Bar. Ability to advocate effectively in court on behalf of the child.
* Knowledge of juvenile law, including relevant rules of procedure and evidence, and guardian ad litem legal representation for children.
* Ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with individuals involved in litigation and stressful situations. Ability to work with individuals from culturally and economically diverse backgrounds.
* Ability to utilize a personal computer, including software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
ABOUT THE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
* A valid Florida Driver's License is required.
* Graduation from an accredited law school, membership in the Florida Bar and two years of experience in the practice of dependency or related law. Candidates may be considered pending admission to The Florida Bar if granted by the Executive Director or his designee. Strong trial skills preferred.
* An exception for the required experience may be granted by the Executive Director or their designee.
