Since she joined the network in 2016, Ms. Hundorfean’s extraordinary efforts to transform AHN have been recognized both regionally and nationally. In 2019, she was selected by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of the nation’s “Top 25 Women Leaders,” joining a distinguished list of executives whose work positively influences American health policy, care delivery models, and the industry as a whole. Ms. Hundorfean has directed AHN’s impressive financial recovery. For the decade preceding her arrival, the network and its predecessor organization sustained substantial annual operating losses. But under her leadership, the network has now reported two straight years of positive operating and net income. In 2018, AHN also closed on $1 billion in long-term bond financing, the network’s first ever public financing vehicle and a strong indicator of the network’s solid financial foundation.

Richard J. Liekweg is president and chief executive officer of BJC HealthCare, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit, integrated health care delivery organizations with over $6 billion in net revenues and more than 32,000 employees serving the greater St. Louis, southern Illinois and mid-Missouri regions. BJC is the largest provider of charity care, unreimbursed care and community benefit in Missouri, providing more than $800.8 million in financial assistance, education of health professionals, safety net services and community outreach programs. BJC’s patients have access to the latest advances in medical science and technology through a formal affiliation between BJC and the renowned Washington University School of Medicine, which consistently ranks among the top medical schools in the country. Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital rank among the most highly regarded teaching hospitals in the nation. BJC’s community and rural hospitals are also regularly recognized for excellence. Liekweg joined BJC HealthCare in 2009 as president of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and group president for BJC HealthCare.
