    Department is within FSU's Department of Northwest Regional Data Center - State Data Center Responsibilities This position supervises the complex area of mainframe Scheduling Services for the NWRDC. This position requires extensive knowledge of data processing, large IBM scheduling, and Code Migration operations. Consistent communication with the customer, users, and interfaces with all levels of management within the NWRDC and exercising independent judgment. This position also assists in formulating policies and procedures that have a significant impact on scheduling services. This position also assists in the production schedule for batch processing, administration of code migration change management, distribution of data report-generated output, and physical security for the environment. Administer, coordinate, and participate in the activities of the scheduling staff in their performance and throughout the production environment, and software and hardware equipment. Provide leadership, counseling, direction, performance feedback, and development of career paths for staff. Evaluate employees using established criteria and maintain a consistent dialogue with them to keep them informed of their progress. Administer, coordinate, and participate in the set-up of the batch schedule through the automated scheduling software. Monitor the scheduling staff and production workload, scheduling, and code migration activities. Interface with Applications management, developers, and analysts to recommend and implement schedule changes to improve batch performance and abend reduction. Coordinate the development of technical documentation to ensure effective implementation, operation, and evaluation of automated information systems. Establish guidelines and procedures for tracking, evaluating, and documenting job performance, scheduling activities, and reporting relevant events to management. Comprehend, apply, and enforce regulations, policies, and procedures in accordance with the NWRDC and university rules of conduct. Administer, coordinate, and participate in the training activity of all scheduling tasks and equipment. Develop and implement staff training programs to enhance job knowledge and get feedback to evaluate their progress. Ensure that cross-training efforts are an integral part of the Scheduling Services team. Interact with the system project programmers and administrators to ensure the availability and operations of scheduling and code migration software. Coordinate test and production changes and schedule updates to the on-line software products to ensure on-line availability. Troubleshoot global issues and work closely with platform managers to prevent. Perform other related duties as required. Participates in approved professional development opportunities per NWRDC's policy. Professional development and training is defined as learning undertaken by the employee to maintain and advance their skills, knowledge, and competencies, specifically as they relate and add value to the job and workplace. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and four years' experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years. Preferred Qualifications Mainframe scheduling experience preferred. Helpful Individual should be a self-starter, team motivator, and detail oriented. Must be willing to work Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm and be on-call. Willing to work holidays and emergencies (off-shifts) when necessary. These may occur during nights or on days you are not scheduled to work. Report to duty during a natural disaster such as a hurricane, flood, or other emergencies. The person in this position will be a working supervisor in the scheduling services section. They will work with state agency users and customers. The successful candidate will have an advanced degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or Engineering with experience in operating and maintain scanning electron microscopy equipment. Particular attention will be paid to applicants with expertise biological samples. Key Responsibilities: * Operate, monitor, and maintain FIB/SEM instrumentation to ensure optimal performance. * Train and support users on the proper and safe operation of FIB/SEM systems. * Provide FIB/SEM volumetric imaging and lamella milling as a core service. * Support cryo-EM workflows by providing high-quality data collection services. * Maintain accurate logs of system performance, user activity, and service requests. * Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to enable high-impact scientific research. Qualifications * PhD or highest degree appropriate from an accredited institution in physics, biology, chemistry, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience. * Hands-on experience with electron microscope operation and maintenance. * Experience with cryo-EM workflows and sample preparation techniques. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for user training and collaboration. * Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a service-oriented environment.
