Engineering Manager - Classification

Flow Commerce Inc.
Remote
Flow is a technology and services company that enables brands and retailers to become international and sell cross-border. Flow's API driven platform enables merchants to sell & ship globally from their own sites, solving all cross-border pain points throughout the entire e-commerce supply chain, such as local payment methods, international shipping options, and all aspects of the upstream site localization such as duty/tax calculation, local pricing and product restrictions. Flow makes it easy for merchants to solve these enormous points of friction when selling globally. The result is a next-generation platform for cross-border commerce, focused on customer experience and maximizing conversion rates.

Flow has raised $55m+ in funding (most recently Series B) from world-class funds including NEA, Amex Ventures, Bain Capital Ventures, Forerunner Ventures, Fung Capital, and more.
ABOUT THE ROLE:

A critical component to enabling cross border is delivering seamless clearance through customs. This is also an incredibly challenging problem where Flow has radically changed the industry by delivering the world's first machine learning-based, highly accurate, classification system that replaces the need for people to inspect and classify individual products. This capability enables our clients to ship goods from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world directly from their stores and fulfillment centers, keeping customers happy with fast and seamless delivery.

Clearing customs requires classifying products into “HS Codes” (harmonized schedules) that allow any agent around the world to understand what a product is. At Flow, we take unstructured product information, utilize Machine Learning and other classification tools, to intelligently assign these codes to millions of products each day.

As we continue to invest in scaling the classification product to improve precision, add new product categories and much higher volume, Flow is looking for an experienced engineering leader to lead our classification team as we continue to build the next generation of our classifier to become image, location, price-aware, and improve our data enrichment, data quality algorithms.
