Summary Position Highlights: The Environmental Services Specialty Technician's primary responsibility is disinfecting specialty areas such as Infusion Pharmacy, Sterile Processing, Operating Rooms, Procedure Rooms, Cell Therapy. As part of the Spill Response Team, deactivates and decontaminates chemotherapy and other hazardous agent spills. Responsible for reducing the spread of bacteria and infection as well as providing an environment that appears clean, fresh, and polished. This position performs a variety of duties that support the department in maintaining a clean environment for patients and staff, this includes cleaning/disinfecting other areas as needed.     We are presently seeking two Environmental Specialist 2 in our Office of Community Infrastructure. This position will primarily work in the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, the Brownfield Remediation Program, and the Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Grant program. This position will review and provide compliance assistance to grantees for reporting and reimbursement requests This role is part of the grant application review team, which involves evaluating grant applications for accuracy and working directly with grantees to ensure applications are ready for recommendation of approval. Some travel may be required to connect with communities and monitor grant activity, as needed, to support the program. What you'll do: * Evaluate grant applications for accuracy and completeness as part of the grant application review team. * Collaborate with grantees to ensure applications meet requirements and are ready for recommendation of approval. * Review and provide compliance assistance for grantee reporting and reimbursement requests. * Conduct site visits and community engagement to monitor grant activity and support program objectives. * Assist with program administration within the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, Brownfield Remediation Program, and the Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Grant program. * 4 years training or 4 years experience in position involving geology or hydrology, engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science and/or other comparable physical or health science field, earth science and/or urban and regional planning, and/or mathematics and/or history and/or archaeology (i.e., latter two subject areas pertain only to positions in departments of transportation and natural resources) which included responsibility for conducting compliance monitoring surveys and/or inspections/reviews or investigations, or review of permit applications relative to oil and gas well operations or injection, annular disposal and saltwater injection wells and enhanced recovery projects or coal mining, or solid/hazardous waste sites or industrial and municipal wastewater dischargers, or conducting of historical and/or archaeological research or other research studies to evaluate impact of proposed transportation projects on historic properties or cultural resources, or collecting, compiling and preparing various environmental assessments, evaluations, reports and related documents. Training and experience must be commensurate with duties to be assigned. * Or baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science and/or urban and regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science field or mathematics or history or archaeology (i.e., latter two subject areas pertain only to positions in departments of transportation and natural resources) with education to be commensurate with duties to be assigned. * Or positions involved in providing financial, technical and administrative assistance for planning, design and implementation of environmental infrastructure and pollution abatement, and prevention projects, applicants must have completed undergraduate core coursework in business/public administration, public relations/marketing, political science or communications, or have 4 years experience in position involving public contact to explain policies, procedures and programs of agency, writing of promotional and/or explanatory publications and materials, budgeting, contract administration and working with others on team projects. Note: For all positions engaged in field work, applicants must be able to provide own transportation. New employees in EPA's solid waste program, excluding those in the solid waste planning unit, must obtain a sanitarian-in-training certificate during their probationary period. * Or 12 months experience as Environmental Specialist 1, 85861. * Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

You'll conduct engineering inspections and oversight of facility construction, with special attention to proper soil compaction and liner installation. You'll prepare reports and correspondence summarizing inspection findings and develop strategies for bringing about compliance for facilities, as needed, including enforcement referrals.
