Job Summary
Oversees a fixed post or patrols an assigned area to preserve peace and order, to protect persons and property, and to perform duties relating to the welfare and safety of the team members, patients, visitors, and property of Atrium Health. Reports any unauthorized or suspicious persons, unsafe conditions or other irregularities.
Essential Functions
Enforces the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of Atrium Health.
Provides assistance to team members, patients, and visitors.
Documents observations, hazards, and incidents for follow-up corrective action.
Assists with traffic and parking patrol.
Takes immediate corrective action against hazards and conditions which may cause injury or damage.
Reports any actions needed or taken to upper management.
Assists with proactive loss prevention program.
Physical Requirements
May have to run, or exert intense physical effort in moving or restraining others. Must have close and intermediate visual acuity. Must be able to hear and verbally communicate with others. Walks/stands for extended periods of time, both inside and outside in a fast-paced environment. May be exposed to unfavorable weather conditions.
Education, Experience and Certifications.
High School Diploma/GED required. Must possess a valid NC or SC driverï ½s license. Previous security, military, law enforcement experience or related field preferred. Must pass an Atrium mandated, psychological evaluation prior to and during employment. complete training from Atrium Health that includes but is not limited to: Non-Violent Crisis Intervention/De-escalation, defensive tactics, baton and TASER within 90 days of hire. Must successfully complete Atrium Health minimum standards for unarmed security officers including background investigation, physical ability and psychological testing within 90 days of hire. Ability to obtain and maintain an Unarmed Guard license as required by the NC Private Protective Services Board. Must obtain IAHSS Basic Certification within 1 year of hire. Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly, in both oral and written form.

Job Description
City College of San Francisco is looking to recruit full time, (40 hours/week), full year (260 days/fiscal year) Institutional PoliceOfficers. Under the direction of the Chief of Police or his/her designee, the Institutional PoliceOfficer works in the San Francisco Community College District Police Department and acts as a peace officer pursuant to Section 830.32(a) of the California Penal Code and Section 72330 of the California Education Code. The San Francisco Community College District Police Department is a Peace Officers' Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) participant. The officer's primary functions are to provide protection of life and property and to enforce state and local laws and college policies within the jurisdiction of San Francisco Community College District
campuses.
In accordance with District policy, the San Francisco Community College District Police Department is a sworn unarmed department. Employees are required to sign a memorandum acknowledging their understanding of the district's policy in this regard.
Responsibilities and Job Duties:
Maintain law and order within and surrounding City College campuses and other district sites.
Provide a safe and secure environment for the students, faculty, staff and visitors.
In a professional and courteous manner; respond to all emergencies on District property.
Uphold the laws and statues of the State of California, municipal and criminal, enforce state and local ordinances, rules and regulations related to the San Francisco Community College District.
Provide assistance and /or first aid.
Perform traffic control and investigate traffic collisions.
Issue verbal warning or issue citations for violations observed and issue parking citations.
Patrol assigned areas in a marked patrol vehicle and/or on foot.
Provide money escorts upon request on District property.

Respond to faculty, staff and student complaints in potentially hostile situations; intervene and mediate in disturbances and disputes.
Testify and present evidence in court as necessary.
Assist in the event of natural disasters and other extraordinary circumstances.
May perform other duties as assigned by Chief of Police or his/her designee. Working Conditions:
This classification may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing, running or sitting for prolonged periods of time; bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; possible exposure to physical injury and other dangers inherent in police work. Must possess satisfactory hearing capabilities and visual acuity of at least 20/100 correctable to at least 20/30 in each eye. Officers are required to wear police uniforms, a bullet proof vests, and required police gear.
Officers are required to work flexible shifts, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Officers may be assigned to any of the district campuses under the department policy and/or at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
The department currently operates two shifts: Day shift and swing shift. Shifts are 5 days/8 hours per day or 4 days/10 hours per day: 7 days a week.
Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Proficiency Examination);

Experience:
One (1) year of experience as a policeofficer, member of a military police unit or other work involving the safeguarding of life and property; AND

Written Exam (Pass/Fail)
For this recruitment, applicants have the option to use either Option A) FrontLine National Law Enforcement Examination administered by the National Testing Network (NTN) or Option B) California PELLETB Exam. Either exam is pass/fail with the minimum scores posted below.
OPTION A) FrontLine National Law Enforcement Examination (NTN)

Applicants with demonstrated financial hardship may submit a request to have the fee waived prior to test registration. There are three components to the FrontLine National exam: a video-based human relations test, a reading ability test, and a written language ability test. The passing scores are:

OPTION B) Post Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB)
The PELLETB exam, developed by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), measures reading comprehension and writing abilities.

Oral Interview (100%)
