Public Finance Fellow Grade/Classification: N/A Bargaining Unit: Unrepresented FLSA Status: Non- Exempt Last Revised: November 7, 2023 Nature and Scope DASNY provides financing and construction services to public and private universities, not-for-profit healthcare facilities and other institutions that serve the public good. DASNY is divided into five major sub-divisions: Executive Direction, Public Finance and Portfolio Monitoring, Construction Services, Counsel, Finance & Information Services. The Public Finance and Portfolio Monitoring division is the focal point for DASNY financings. It raises money in the capital markets for DASNY customers by determining the feasibility and structure of financings and overseeing issuance to assure the lowest cost of capital to DASNY customers.
Primary Purpose
Under general supervision, serves in a temporary capacity as a DASNY fellow for a municipal finance project or projects. The fellow also participates in a seminar series covering a variety of DASNY business topics. The Public Finance Fellow will be placed at DASNY headquarters located in Albany, NY for the first six-month term, and the location of the participating financial institution for the second six-month term.
Essential Functions
* Perform and review detailed financial analysis and financial calculations.
* Assist in the production of Official Statements.
* Assist in the preparation and/or review of bond issues including drafting staff reports and reviewing financial statements.
* Review and maintain data in DASNY's portfolio monitoring databases and payment tracking systems; perform periodic review and/or reconciliations to ensure accuracy of data.
* Prepare monitoring reports of clients' financial and program performance.
* Discuss and recommend actions concerning fiscal problems uncovered by review of financial statements, special reporting, site visits and payment performance.
* Prepare credit analysis for new financings.
* Evaluate financial impact and prepare recommendations based on findings for requests of changes under mortgages, such as the sale or leasing of property, working capital loans and easements.
* Monitor facilities' financial performance during construction and provide DASNY clients with the support and guidance needed to obtain capital reimbursement.
* Monitor workout agreements with financially challenged clients and identify payment delinquencies.
* Participate in the administration of the DASNY's Health Care Restructuring Pool and Health Care Portfolio Management Fund loans.
* Participate in the administration of new programs, including grant programs.
* Undertake special assignments and special projects as directed.
Essential Skills

* Proficiency in PC applications such as Outlook, Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
Applicants for DASNY's Fellowship must:
* Be an undergraduate student from an underrepresented group who received a bachelor's degree in December 2025 or will receive a bachelor's degree in May or June 2026.
* Demonstrate an interest in public finance, a familiarity with governmental institutions, quality work ethic, and a strong drive towards the pursuit of an exciting and rewarding career.
* Possess analytical and quantitative skills, which may be demonstrated through internships and/or the successful completion of economics, business administration, or mathematics courses, which are preferred but not required.
* Commit to working in-person in the DASNY Albany office for the duration of the first six-month term and commit to working in-person at the NYC office of the investment bank for the duration of the second term.
* Be authorized to work in the United States.
* Provide the following:

* Unofficial college transcript; and
* Personal Statement up to 650 words that describes: 1) the importance of promoting diversity in the financial services industry and 2) how your life experience, including challenges overcome, leadership and service experience, or academic experience, will enhance your ability to be successful in the Fellowship.

We are seeking dynamic Network Engagement Fellows to join our team. Network Engagement Fellows will support the GroundBreakers Network of local leaders through providing tailored, collaborative support for local initiatives. This work includes conducting needs assessments and surveys, organizing events in support of grassroots work, and coordinating with the Racial Equity and Media teams at GroundBreakers to promote the work of frontline Racial Equity leaders.
This is an exciting opportunity for candidates with a passion for intersectional equity and community development and strong skillsets in research, writing, and engaging with teams and communities

Job Description
As a Network Engagement Fellow for GroundBreakers, your duties would include:
Conducting needs assessments with local leaders to help inform the most relevant and impactful programming possible;
Supporting event planning and management for programming supporting the GroundBreakers Network;
Planning fundraising campaigns for such initiatives as supporting frontline racial equity leaders and increasing accessibility to community resources;
Supporting the writing and editing process for the GroundBreakers newsletter sharing updates and resources with leaders globally;
Engaging donors and community members in growing GroundBreakers' impact;
Collaborating with the GroundBreakers Media Team on promoting content and engaging the GroundBreakers network of local leaders.
Qualifications

Demonstrated commitment to racial equity required.
Prior experience in interviewing and writing is highly desired.
Experience with graphic design tools including Canva highly desired.
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
Strong critical thinking and analytic skills.
Dedication to contributing to a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment and being a strong team player required.
Candidates must be self-directed and able to work independently.
