The Family Help Specialist is on the front lines of ministry at Focus on the Family. This role is more than customer service, it is ministry. The Family Help Specialist reflects Focus on the Family's mission by handling each interaction with compassion, clarity, and professionalism, while accurately processing requests and maintaining data integrity.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Responds with care and discernment to inbound and outbound phone calls, emails, chats, and written contacts
Shares the biblical perspective of Focus on the Family with clarity and grace, creating Christ-honoring, personalized responses that balance ministry priorities with constituent needs
Engages compassionately in complex and emotionally sensitive situations while upholding legal, ethical, and ministry boundaries
Produces high-quality responses through excellent verbal and written communication in the "Focus Style"
Meets proficiency standards for handling emails, chats, and phones
Accurately manages constituent accounts, including data entry, adjustments, and verification
Processes donations, resources, subscriptions, and event requests, including honorariums, memorials, matching gifts, and other giving categories, with integrity and attention to detail
Utilizes Salesforce, InFocus, and multiple databases simultaneously while interacting with constituents to provide efficient, accurate, and caring service
Models key ministry values in every task and interaction
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
May be assigned as a Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) in different processes
Required to work from home on snow delays, early closures, or full closure days
Performs other duties as assigned
Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
Office/production setting or home-based workstation (as applicable); fast-paced environment with frequent changes in process and priorities; ability to work evening, weekend, holiday, or overtime shifts as needed
Extended periods of sitting and computer use (70%+ keying functions); ability to type at least 45 WPM

The Opportunity:
The Polysomnographic Specialist performs all aspects of care as outlined in national and departmental clinical standard of practice policy and procedure manual and in accordance with written verbal orders or approved protocol flow charts. This position will assist with MSLT and home sleep study set-ups. Clinical practice activities include but are not limited to the performance of diagnostic polysomnographic testing, assessment based therapeutic interventions and the analysis and scoring of polysomnographic records. Role Purpose
The Board-Certified Behavior Analyst will be responsible for providing services to patients with developmental and/or behavioral difficulties. In this role, the BCBA will collect and analyze data to develop, monitor, and evaluate behavioral treatment plans. The BCBA will also provide consultation and training to families and professionals, as well as collaborate with other professionals to develop effective treatment plans. The BCBA will work collaboratively with the treatment team to address challenging behaviors, identify replacement behaviors resulting in a reduction in workplace violence events.

This is a FT day shift position but requires flexibility to meet with clients after typical work hours and occasionally on weekends

Responsibilities
Completes timely documentation of services that clearly describe the need for the service, the intervention provided, the relationship to the treatment plan, the provider of the service, the date, the actual time and setting of the service, and the individual's response to the service.
Identifies, screens and refers children exhibiting emotional disturbances. Plans and implements appropriate academic and /or educational supports. Coordinates referral of children and families to community service agencies as appropriate for the mental health needs of the child. Consults with school staff and/or parents regarding the social/emotional/behavioral needs of children.
Provides resources to school staff and/or parents regarding characteristics, intervention and treatment of disorders. Consults with school staff regarding classroom and/or school wide approaches to behavior to develop positive behavior supports and interventions. Provides school staff development on topics such as positive behavior supports and intervention, prevention of violence, crisis planning and intervention, etc.
Conducts functional behavior assessments and/or social skills instruction. Measures progress and improvement of assigned children. Implements interventions for students with chronic behavioral and emotional needs.

Establishes overt/covert needs as well as anticipated needs related to the diagnosis. Monitors patient throughout the stay. Utilizes ALDRETE score consistently. Follows Infection Control policies and procedures on all patients.

Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in family support, grief counseling, or a related field, preferably in healthcare or organ donation settings.

Responsibilities 1. Performs psychosocial screenings and/or assessments to ensure that patient needs are properly identified, and appropriate interventions are integrated into the plan of care. Assesses patient's and family's psychosocial risk factors through evaluation of prior functioning levels, appropriateness and adequacy of support systems, reaction to illness and ability to cope, understanding of present circumstances and patient/family priorities/needs. Counsels patients and families regarding emotional, social, and financial consequences of illness and/or disability and other psychosocial issues identified. Provides crisis intervention and counseling for patients and families. Promotes patient and family empowerment and independence. 3. Participates in discharge planning activities. Implements psychosocial portion of plan to facilitate timely patient discharge and promote optimal utilization of patient and community resources. Provides planning for post-hospital placements including Home, Nursing Home, Rehabilitation, Shelters, Home Care, Hospice and DME requirements for safe discharge. Accesses and mobilizes family/community resources to meet identified needs. Intervenes with families with complex psychosocial needs and family dynamics. Educates patient/family and physician about post-acute options and addresses issues of choice. 4. Communicates daily with interdisciplinary team regarding status of discharge planning activities. Validates discharge criteria/plans for patients and families and notifies the interdisciplinary team of newly identified resources or changes in previously identified plans/resources. 5. Provides intervention in cases involving child or adult abuse/neglect (serves as liaison between Parkland and CPS/APS), domestic violence, guardianship (temporary/ permanent), foster care, adoption, mental health level II placement, and sexual assault. 6. Documents screening, assessment, interventions and outcomes to ensue effective communication per established documentation procedures. 7. Manages referrals and communications from a variety of sources such as fax referrals, calls, physicians, COPC Social Workers, Care Management Team, the health care team, community agencies, patients, families, etc. to ensure optimal customer service. Utilizes and/or refers to Patient Support Center as appropriate. 8. Maintains and implements knowledge of all rules, regulations, policies, procedures, laws and guidelines, including The Joint Commission, that impact the Social Work field and ensures that patient discharge plans are in compliance. 9. Maintains positive working relationship with management, vendors, other hospitals, employees, and community agencies to ensure effective communication among all patient contacts. Keeps staff informed, makes reports, rounds and frequent agency contacts to ensure timely discharge to appropriate setting and support. 10. Reports assigned data (i.e. services provided, Medicare stats, alcohol and drug numbers, adoption numbers, CPS/APS cases) as needed, ensuring timeliness and accuracy. 11. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland. 12. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in the field of Social Work by attending seminars or workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations and maintaining licensure in Social Work. Integrates this acquired knowledge into daily performance. 13. Serves on committees as selected and assigned. Participates in social work peer review, social work meetings and other efforts that promote quality and patient satisfaction.
