Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital providing both inpatient and outpatient therapy Serve adult patients, primarily those recovering from oncology-related surgeries, especially head and neck cancer Caseload is mainly medically compromised adults, focusing on complex swallowing, cognitive, and respiratory needs Average of 6-9 patients per day with day shifts scheduled Tuesday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with the potential for an additional shift as needed Responsible for performing and interpreting Modified Barium Swallow Studies Epic EMR is used for documentation Primary duties include evaluating and treating adults for swallowing, cognitive, and speech/language disorders following oncology treatment The SLP will frequently work independently with support from other hospital disciplines Responsibilities include coordination for diet upgrades and interdisciplinary care planning 24 hours of orientation will be provided before assuming a full caseload Light grey scrubs are required but not provided by the unit First-time travelers are welcome; new graduates will not be considered Ability to identify and report signs of physical, sexual, or psychological abuse in patients is required Familiarity with functional maintenance programs and patient/family education expected Requirements Current state SLP license required and must be obtained before consideration (license required if applicable) Minimum of 1 year recent SLP experience in acute care and adult outpatient settings BLS and MBSImP certifications required Competence with Modified Barium Swallow Studies, bedside swallow evaluation, compensatory strategies, oral motor skills, and diet modifications Experience coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams such as dieticians Active knowledge of adult dysphagia, cognitive rehabilitation, and communication disorders Experience with patients who are tracheostomy or ventilator dependent CCC-SLP and FEES certifications are preferred Familiarity with assessment tools such as ALPS, BAE, BIMS, CADL, CELF, and screening protocols for hearing and depression Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P.
