The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of legal assistant experience, with a background in Products Liability and/or General Liability Litigation. This position allows for a hybrid schedule: 3 days work from home/2 days in office . Of course you may choose to work in the office more often.
Responsibilities:
Managing Office and Attorney Calendars:
Review attorney calendar weekly and send reminders regarding upcoming deadlines
Ensure all deadlines are met
Create and send calendar invites as requested
Document Management and Drafting:
Prepare shells for various documents; finalize documents before filing
Keep accurate and up-to-date records; help maintain case files
E-Filing:
File legal documents electronically with courts and other external bodies
Ensure compliance with all filing requirements
Approximately 90% state court filings; 10% federal or appellate filings
Expense and Bar/CLE Management:
Submit attorney expenses in a timely manner
Maintain attorney bar admissions, CLE credits, and various professional association memberships

Assist in preparing materials for depositions, hearings, trials, and other meetings
Ensure all necessary documentation is in order
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years legal assistant or legal secretary experience
Extensive knowledge of state court rules

Experience using macros and styles to format Word documents, including Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities
Proficient in using a document management system
Ability to think critically and independently tackle new challenges

The Traditional Labor Summer Associate will be encouraged to assume significant responsibility and will be exposed to a broad range of traditional labor relations work on behalf of employers, including research and writing, responding to unfair labor practice charges before the NLRB, supporting collective bargaining negotiations, and providing legal advice to employers regarding union organizing, collective bargaining agreements, and other labor relations matters. In addition to legal research and writing assignments, the Traditional Labor Summer Associate will have the opportunity to attend significant events related to the cases to which he/she is assigned, such as collective bargaining, labor arbitrations, and client meetings. Our attorneys are committed to ensuring the Traditional Labor Summer Associate receives feedback on his/her work product and they will take time to help the Traditional Labor Summer Associate better understand what it takes to be a successful attorney at our firm. In addition, we sponsor social events during the summer that will allow the Traditional Labor Summer Associate to interact with our attorneys.
Hiring Criteria include:
Must be in their 2nd year of law school
Outstanding academic credentials; top third of class
Interest in labor and employment law
Solid legal research, writing and decision-making skills
Ability to think critically and problem-solve
Ability to read and understand complex legal documents
Strong persuasion skills
For California, the expected hourly for this position is $85.00. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

The salary range for this position applies to our California offices and reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands and other business and organizational needs. The expected salary range for this position is $204,500-$221,500. This is not inclusive of our full range, and actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Defend and litigate lawsuits involving a broad range of employment-related claims and agency charges
Advise, counsel, and train employers on various employment and labor law issues
Class Action/PAGA experience preferred but not required
Represent employers in court or arbitration, before administrative agencies, and at mediations in employment matters, including class/collective actions and discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, contract, employment tort, and non-compete cases
Skills and Educational Requirements:
JD from ABA accredited law school, with excellent academic credentials
4-6 years of experience, employment law background strongly preferred
Current CA Bar admission in good standing
Understanding of current agency (state and federal) procedures
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Attention to detail and commitment to excellence
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
Commitment to professionalism, collegiality, and teamwork
