What You'll Do: As a Volunteer Repack Coordinator, you'll lead and support volunteers in sorting and repacking donated food and household items to get them ready for distribution across our community. You'll guide, train, and inspire volunteers, ensure safe food handling and quality standards, and help keep our warehouse organized and efficient. Every day you'll play a key role in making sure families in need get the food and resources they rely on. Key Responsibilities: Orient, train, and direct groups of volunteers during repack activities, ensuring everyone knows safe food handling procedures and repack standards. Plan, set up, and clean up for volunteer shifts, creating an organized and welcoming environment. Monitor quality, weigh, tag, and palletize repacked products, making sure they are ready for distribution. Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness in compliance with food safety standards. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely. Track daily production and submit reports using our digital inventory system.     DEPARTMENT: OLYMPIA CENTER CENTER SUPPORT STATUS: NON-EXEMPT, Regular Part-Time SUPERVISOR: Business Administrator GENERAL STATEMENT: The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church, and the goal of all programs is the spiritual regeneration of all people. The Salvation Army Center program provides 24/7 enhanced shelter and related services for adults experiencing homelessness. Participants are typically people who have been identified as high needs adults who are eligible for supportive permanent housing. Many clients have chronic and acute mental illness, active addiction issues, and/or trauma. This is a low-barrier, harm reduction program. Advocates are responsible for providing direct service to the participants, assisting with the goal of moving participants quickly into permanent housing and fostering a team environment among center staff and volunteers. Working Conditions: This position may have frequent in person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused or frustrated. The worker may be exposed to different inside and outside environmental conditions. This position requires the employee to work in an environment where there may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious material. Other exposures could include cleaning supplies, chemicals involved in pest control, paint and other materials used in building maintenance. Working conditions may include interruptions with angry persons, and exposure to computers and digital touchscreen displays. Shop to be kept clean and orderly. * Responsible for maintaining a complete and accurate inventory of all maintenance equipment. * Safeguard all building and house rental keys, never giving anyone access to occupied tenant rentals. * Do not enter rental houses and officer quarters without prior approval from supervisor. * Learn, know, and follow all OSHA safety standards and Salvation Army safety standards as they relate to your responsibilities. * Coordinate maintenance contracts for mechanical systems, pest control, alarm systems, fire suppression systems, elevators, janitorial service, and garbage pickup. * Repair basic building or housing systems as assigned, including basic electrical systems (switches, outlets, breakers, fixtures, and minor wiring), general carpentry needs (woodwork, door maintenance, floor repair, wallboard and plaster work, painting, and lock systems repair), plumbing, drainage, roofs, roof drains, heating and cooling systems. * For major projects or projects beyond our capabilities, secure bids and make a report with your recommendation to the Program Manager. * Responsible for maintaining separate files on all maintenance equipment, building heating and cooling equipment. These files are to reflect the purchase and installation date and a complete maintenance record for all the above equipment. * Learn, know and follow Salvation Army personnel policy and procedure in all employee matters. * As needed, recruit new workers to fill maintenance and driving positions as the jobs become vacant. * Work with Program Manager to complete employee review and evaluation of any employee responsible for building, grounds or vehicle maintenance. * Respond to alarms when called by security company after hours. Property Manager is first responder listed. * Secure the shop and the downstairs garage door. * Responsible for repairing all kettle stands and signs. Driving kettle workers and volunteers to sites during the Holiday season. * Where an inspection finds a safety hazard, inform the Corps Officers and Operations Manager of this in writing immediately. Take immediate action to correct safety hazard. * Participate in staff meetings and trainings, as assigned. * There will be times when other tasks will be deemed necessary to be completed by you. If they become regular tasks, they will be added to your job description. * Additional duties as assigned by Corps Officer or supervisor. BASIC PURPOSE The purpose of this position is to perform regular janitorial services to maintain the cleanliness and function of the facility and vehicles, maintain facility and vehicles by completing maintenance tasks and coordinating with outside vendors, to drive a company vehicle to collect donations and supplies from local vendors, and to support Emergency Disaster Services with recruiting and training a team and deploying to local disasters as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain the cleanliness of corps buildings, including but not limited to offices, restrooms, classrooms, the chapel, kitchen, multipurpose room, and food preparation areas. Maintain the cleanliness of the parking lot, landscaping, and walkways Maintain the cleanliness and repair of vehicles Conduct facility and equipment repairs Coordinate with maintenance vendors and complete the internal approval process when needed. Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies and maintenance equipment Set up and prepare rooms for program usage Primary drive for picking up and distributing donations, and any other needs, such as landfill and Load/unload food donations and equipment/supplies Institute the Injury and Illness Prevention Program Assist the Corps Officer in recruiting and training an Emergency Disaster Team Ensure the canteen is always ready to deploy, mechanically sound, and with all needed equipment and Assist where needed with Seasonal fundraising, distributions, and other programs.
