Pros of working at Food Lion

I really enjoyed meeting and serving the customers. Not a bad part time job.

Cons of working at Food Lion

Management never bothered to help me sign up for direct deposit or showed me how to check my schedule. I had to go to the store on Sunday to see if I had to work that day and the rest of the week. Anything you need to know you have to hunt down someone to help. They say I don’t do that you need to to talk to someone else.

What do you like best about Food Lion's CEO and the leadership team?

Never met the CEO. Hiring manager was very nice. All lead cashiers were good to work with except one. I was tormented by her for my very first day.

How would you improve Food Lion's culture?

Hire someone to help new employees with paperwork and when they want an employee to do something different ask them nicely instead of barking out orders like they are a slave.

How did you prepare for the Food Lion interview?

Dressed nicely ,arrived on time prepared to answer questions. Introduced myself and answered all questions truthfully.

How does your compensation at Food Lion compare to the industry average?

It was fine. It was a part time job so I didn’t expect high pay

What's the diversity at Food Lion like?

It was terrible. I was one of only two black people there and I only saw the other guy a couple of times. I guess I was the last black person to go.

What brings you the most joy at Food Lion?

Helping the customers and just meeting and talking to people.

The Windows were big so at night it looked pretty outside and it was very calming.

Cons of working at Food Lion

Not considerate of their employees at all, you had ONE 15 min break during your entire part time shift and only 30 min for full time, that is ridiculous.

They dont care wether you are able to pay your rent or not they gave a flawed system for raises and do not account for the rise in cost of living and or the inflation that has been running rampant lately,food lion cares about their dollar and they could care less for the associates

easy work/ great environment/ teamwork is necessary to succeed in reaching goals/ night shift/ store closed when working, don't have to wear uniform after the close. every member of the household works there/ room-mate is the manager of dayshift/ nightshift manger is relaxed and jokes when available. work to go home and get the job done in a resonable amount of time.

not enough hours/ pay rate isn't amazing. have to do things that are supposed to be done by day shift or daytime managers. never motivated to go in because I feel as if I'm going nowhere in life and I'm just constantly running in place day by day on a constant basis.

ability to attempt to get my GED. trying my hardest to study on a constant basis, to further my education. everyone on the night shift is considered my family we treat each other like family even if not blood-related. I'm currently getting trained to become a head stocker and getting a slight raise I deal with too much for the amount i get paid right now.

I enjoyed every aspect of it, From customer interaction to interaction with my coworkers. It was the perfect job for me, it offered the opportunity for growth and potential long-term stability.

Lack of consistency in Management, Policies being in force and lack of access to human resources. It was also known to have a high turnover rate.

It is convenient for me to do my shopping when I am finished work every week.

At my particular Food Lion, none of the managers on duty are on the same page. They all have different expectations of the staff. My specific jobs requires me to go out in the hot sun and freezing cold all the time.
