Work on floor monitoring guest satisfaction, partnering with the team, and filling in as needed, during peak hours.
Ensure that guests receive a “Paws-itive experance that complies with Black Bear Diner standards.
It is the responsibility of the Server to work with Management to resolve any guest issues to ensure a positive outcome is reached.
Ensure that food safety practices comply with Black Bear Diner standards as well as local Health Department regulations.
Protect cash and all other company assets by adhering to company control procedures. Ex: comp/void audits, cash handling procedures.
Ensure the diner follows all other regulatory agencies related to worker safety, alcoholic beverage sales, etc
The server is responsible for role modeling the Black Bear Diner culture, Vision & Values and standard operating procedures of the diner. This includes establishing sanitation and safety expectations.
Servers often help other servers with questions and provide assistance as needed.

Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to perform essential functions on the computerized Point of Sale system.
Working knowledge and ability to mix and serve a wide variety of drinks.
Working knowledge of the proper operation of all bar equipment.
Working knowledge of applicable liquor laws and regulations.
Working knowledge of standard cash handling procedures.
Current State Food Handler's License and State Mixologist Permit required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
At least one year of related education, training and/or experience.
Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service.
Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving customers.
Ability to learn cash register software used by bar or restaurant.
Positive attitude and excellent communication skills.

The Dot, a local café run by Maps Credit Union, is located in our beautiful High Street Branch near downtown Salem, Oregon. The goal of the café is to engage with our members in new ways and to tell the story of our community giveback and charitable arm, Maps Community Foundation. Our Baristas contribute to this goal by providing warm and engaging member service while also serving quality beverages, food products, and services. The ideal candidate for this role is self-motivated and able to work independently as a solo barista.
Key responsibilities of the Barista include, but are not limited to:
Serve as the main representative of The Dot café, maintaining consistent and punctual attendance, with the ability to open and close the café.
Establish rapport with all customers to deliver excellent customer service.
Prepare hot and cold beverages and ready-made food items.
Follow standards for merchandising, stocking, and rotating. Store and maintain records of all products.
Properly handle all café equipment and ensure equipment is maintained. Escalate maintenance concerns as needed.
Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards and ensure that established food safety regulations/guidelines are followed. Uphold optimal cleanliness of work area and café.
Respond to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
Enhance customer experience by uncovering customer needs in relation to products and services offered by Maps and its subsidiary (CUSO) companies.
Support the Community Outreach and Maps Community Foundation departments during events held in the café.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the highest level of ethical behavior and a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 1 year of customer service, cash handling, and food service experience is required. Must possess a valid Food Handlers Card or be able to obtain the card within 30 days of hire. Must be bondable and pass a pre-employment background check.
Non-exempt Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour, plus tips.
Part-time work schedule: Monday and Tuesday 10AM-1PM, Wednesday 8AM-1PM, Thursday and Friday 7:30AM-4:15PM. Availability to cover other shifts as needed is a plus.
The Dot is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
