    What will you be doing as a Restaurant Host/Hostess? Greet all guests in a warm and enthusiastic manner, provide silverware and appropriate menus, and advise of any daily specials. Seat guests in appropriate sections and fairly to all servers. Answer the telephone after no more than three rings, including room service, and assign orders to servers. Handle closing of guest transactions in restaurant and room services, close out register, and balance out cash for shift as well as keeping cash funds secured at all times. Set up host stand with menus, blank checks, cash trays, register tape, candy, change, vouchers, etc. Check tables to ensure proper set up for each shift. Check guest tables to ensure guest service and food quality are satisfactory and up to StepStone and hotel standards. Notify a manager immediately of any guest complaints. Call back-room service guests to check service, up sell, and arrange tray pickup. Use proper etiquette guidelines for seating guests. Practice and observe all safety rules and procedures. Assist all service personnel in any duties as requested. Maintain and follow all cash handling procedures. Ability to accurately use various office software. Requirements Minimum lifting of 50 pounds. Pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, manual dexterity. Hearing, writing, typing. Minimum pulling of 50 pounds. Other duties may be assigned Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions. Summary of Server Responsibilities Interact with guests to ensure exemplary service in an efficient manner. Offer menu tours, take orders, serve food and beverages, wine service, answer inquiries about the menu and comply with the wishes of the guest, as well as suggestively sell food and specialty beverage items. Work closely with Bartender, Server Assistant and Host to ensure guests receive superb service. Primary Responsibilities Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner with a sense of urgency. Answer questions about food and beverage including entrée ingredients, preparations, and accompanying items. Promptly greet newly seated guests in a friendly, professional manner. Accurately take orders and suggestively sell menu items such as appetizers, entrees, beverages, and desserts. Properly and efficiently enter orders on the POS computer system. Attend to guests needs when delivering food and check back with guests to ensure their satisfaction. Ensure guests' expectations have been met and naturally exceeded. Professionally resolve food or service issues. Maintain table appearance by pre-bussing, checking drink levels, removing clutter/crumbs, and replacing napkins when necessary. Promptly accept payment and follow appropriate accounting procedures. Uphold and maintain superior quality customer service and hospitality. Set up & take down server station according to opening and closing procedures. Keep immediate supervisor informed of significant issues and take prompt corrective action. Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working atmosphere. Keep wait station clean. Monitor cleanliness of restrooms and outside perimeter of building. Work as a team to ensure all facets of the restaurant are kept clean, safe and organized Job Qualifications: Must be able to operate P.O.S. computer system, make change correctly and make credit card transactions accurately. Able to learn, describe and sell all applicable food and beverage menus. Must be able to deliver plates, food and clear tables, which may require lifting of up to 30 lbs. Walk or stand most of 6-8 hour shift. Must be able to read menu items and speak English. Able to reach, bend, stoop and perform cleaning duties. Must be able to hear well with loud background noise, in order respond to guest requests. Must be able to calmly respond to agitated guests and notify a Manager immediately if the matter cannot be corrected in a timely manner. Must be able to clearly communicate guest's needs to other employees including bussers, host, and Manager. Additional Info: Schedules may vary and include weekends.
