    Camp Season - Summer 2026 Assists in serving meals; cleans the kitchen and dining area; maintains inventory. Essential Functions Maintains awareness of the dining area to ensure safety, fire, and health policies and procedures are observed at all times; reports any deviation to the Camp Dining Hall Supervisor. Maintains personal hygiene according to health regulations (e.g., washing hands, wearing hair back, closed-toe shoes, etc.); duties include setting tables, serving on the food line at all meals, cleaning the dining room, bathrooms, and surrounding areas. Cleaning of the dining hall includes sweeping, mopping, polishing, and waxing the floors in the kitchen and dining room. Dining room staff may be asked to assist the cooks. Before Meals - Arrives 45 minutes before scheduled mealtime. Prepares pre-meal assignments given by the Camp Dining Hall Supervisor. Washes hands before serving or putting out food Wears serving gloves at all times while serving food. Wears closed-toe shoes at all times while in the dining room and working. During Meals - Serves food as directed by the Camp Dining Hall Supervisor. Passes out milk at the end of the serving line. Attends to the camper's tables and the drink room as assigned. No sitting, eating, or drinking during camper mealtimes. After Meals - Helps with clearing tables. Remove plates, silverware, and any other items that require washing. Keeps personal living quarters neat, clean, and ready for inspection. Performs other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to observe children and youth and ensure their safety. Some physical requirements of the Camp Dining Room Attendant position include endurance, which involves activities such as climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required to manipulate dining room equipment and perform various activities. Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Working Conditions Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program at the available facility. Operate in daily exposure to the sun, heat, and varying environmental conditions. Qualifications Education and Experience Six months of experience working in a kitchen preferred. or Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Food Preparation and Serving • Under direction of the Kitchen Supervisor, plans, prepares and serves attractive and nutritionally balanced meals for the children, promoting and reinforcing good nutritional habits; trying new foods, portion control and a balanced diet. • Adhere to ingredients, measurements and cooking methods as stated on the recipes to meet the nutritional requirements. • Ensure that food supplies are securely stored. • Wearing proper cooking attire (i.e. apron, hat or hair net, gloves, etc.). • Using proper dishwashing methods. • Cleaning kitchen areas after each meal is served. • Assist the Kitchen Manager with ordering food and supplies as necessary. • Willing to learn the POS system and depositing money. • Must be able to adapt to changes in work duties assigned. • May be asked to work in another kitchen for the school district.
