General Job Description
At Bay Vista Commons, the part-time Dining Server will have the pleasure of interacting with our population through serving and assisting in the dining areas. This position offers opportunity for career growth and advancement as you will also train as a cook to support various diets and nutritional needs for those in our care and for those we intend to serve. This position will assist with kitchen care, meal planning and execution of service as directed.

The Expeditor, or “Expo” in restaurant talk, is an essential position for the function of a restaurant. This position ensures that the food leaving the kitchen is correctly prepared according to the ticket, the plates are going to the right tables, and oversees finishing the plating. The expo is the direct line of communication between the front and back of house. On busy days, the expo will also run food to the proper tables.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Stamina: Expect long, busy days on your feet. You also might need to lift heavy objects like trash bags, or pallets of stock.
Teamwork: You will be working with servers, bussers, bartenders and cooks to create a great dining experience. Being a team player is essential.
Strong communication skills are essential to the proper flow of the restaurant and speedy delivery of food to our guests.
Knowledge of the dining area setup. Will be expected to run food to the proper tables when servers are not available.
Setup and clean up of the expo station, rotation of product, and quality control are the main focus of this role.

Trapper's Sushi is expanding in Washington! We're looking for a friendly, organized, and upbeat Server to join our team in Tacoma, WA. As the first face our guests see, you set the tone for their entire dining experience - greeting them with warmth, keeping things flowing smoothly, and ensuring every visit feels special.

Position Overview
Servers at Trapper's Sushi deliver exceptional guest experiences through warm hospitality, accurate order taking, and consistent service standards. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, anticipating guest needs, and ensuring each visit is memorable, efficient, and aligned with company values.
Duties & Responsibilities
Greet guests promptly with energy, enthusiasm, and genuine hospitality.
Accurately take food and beverage orders, confirm modifications, and enter all items correctly into the POS system.
Deliver drinks, appetizers, entrées, and desserts with proper timing and presentation.
Maintain strong menu knowledge, including ingredients, allergens, and daily specials.
Monitor table activity and anticipate guest needs (refills, extra sauces, additional items, etc.).
Ensure tables are clean, reset, and guest-ready throughout service.
Collaborate with hosts, expo, sushi chefs, and kitchen staff to maintain smooth service flow.
Assist with to-go orders, packaging, and accuracy during high-volume periods.
Handle cash, credit, and digital payments following all cash-handling procedures.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards, including proper glove use, handwashing, and PPE when required.
Maintain a clean, organized workstation and support side work duties before, during, and after shifts.
Demonstrate integrity, teamwork, and a positive attitude while contributing to a respectful and inclusive culture.
Experience & Qualifications
Previous serving experience in a fast-paced restaurant preferred but not required.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with guests.
Ability to multitask, stay organized, and maintain calm during high-volume shifts.
Working knowledge of POS systems (preferred but not required).
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Must obtain a valid Food Handler's Permit/State Food Worker Card prior to the first day of work (per state law).
Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol per state regulations.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Standing and walking for extended periods.
Frequent bending, reaching, and carrying trays or dishes.
Lifting up to 30 lbs (trays, beverage tubs, supplies).
Working in fast-paced, high-traffic environments.
Handling hot plates, sharp utensils, and potential allergen exposure.

Required Qualifications:
* Server, bar, and/or hospitality experience encouraged but NOT required.
* Upbeat energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitude.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.
* Ability to stand, walk, and bend for long periods of time.
* Ability to obtain proper licensing and certifications for the location.
* Meet state minimum age to bartend.
