The Food Service Worker performs a variety of functions related to the safe assembly, distribution and service of food for Hospital patients, visitors and staff. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions -Attends department meetings, monthly in-services, training classes, etc as assigned. -Anticipates and meets customer needs; takes appropriate steps to rectify issues. -Maintains cleanliness of work areas. -Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of department equipment. -Demonstrates a positive and friendly attitude. -Adheres to all HACCP standards. -Alerts supervisor to any concerns, discrepancies, product shortages, etc. -Actively supports and upholds department goals to maintain or improve operations and customer satisfaction. -Works in various tray line, cafeteria and kitchen positions. Sets up and stocks food station for meal service. Assembles patient trays and delivers trays from patient rooms. -Cleans station, equipment, and floors at the end of each meal. -Position may include operating dish machine, trash compactor, mopping floors. -Prepares additional food items for patient tray line. -Regularly works on sanitation projects assigned by manager. -Assists with training of new employees as well as cross training of fellow employees. With approximately 49,000 students from over 114 different countries, nearly 8,000 employees, and an annual budget of $973 million, the BPS is the largest district in Massachusetts and one of the most diverse as well. Currently, BPS has 125 schools with two different food service delivery models. The majority of schools have full-service kitchens with a full-time cafeteria manager and subordinate staff. The remaining schools and programs are satellite sites receiving meals from a consolidated production facility. The district serves approximately 17,000 breakfasts, 25,000 lunches, and 2,100 afterschool meals per day. During the summer months, BPS serves roughly 22,000 meals at sites all over the city. BPS has been approved for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP); which enables the district to provide free meals to all Boston students. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Work, Nutrition, or related field with prior experience in human services and 2 years of supervisory experience.Or, proven work-related experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. A valid license with 5+ years of driving experience,good driving record and willingness to drive 16' and 26' trucks and pantry vans. A CDL is NOT required . Must be comfortable driving on highways and interstates. Ability to remain on feet for extended periods during food pantry distribution times and restocking times. Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidentialinformation. Basic computer and email experience with the willingness and ability to learn internal software systems for scheduling and inventory. Proficiency in additional languages preferred The ability to bend,reachand lift 65 pounds without the use of an assistive device. Ability to safely operate a manual pallet jack, forklift, electric power jack, and loading lift. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook.Willingness and ability to learn internal software systems. Strong communication and problem-solvingskills and excellent attention to detail.
