The FoodServiceWorker - Cashier greets guests as they enter the dining hall. The cashier swipes student ID cards, takes cash from guests, communicates about the menu, and implements dining hall policies concerning take-out meals. Providing great customer service is a key element of this job.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reporting to the General Manager of Bon Appetit, this position performs the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Greet every customer with a smile and a warm welcome. Swipe student ID cards and take cash from paying guests, as well as answer questions about the daily menu.
Understand and follow proper cash procedures as trained. Count cash bank and verify opening balance on cash reconciliation work sheet, count out the cash sales from the meal and complete the cash reconciliation work sheet. Deposit all sales with the Dining Hall Manager and receive verifying signature.
Maintain a clean and organized environment at the cashier station, including cleaning doors before and after opening, wiping down tables and chairs as appropriate.
Ensure that all signage and menus are in their proper place and well presented prior to opening for the meal service. Ensure that the checker's desk is neat and well presented.
Ensure To Go items are stocked before service and removed after.
Wipe down tables and chairs before/after the meal service. Sweep, mop, and vacuum the dining area maintaining the cleanliness of the dining area.
Follow proper food preparation and sanitation directives as established by the Health Department. Comply with internal policies and procedures as they apply to food, sanitation, and safety within the Dining Hall department. This includes, but is not limited to, keeping work area clean, properly/safely using equipment and keeping floor free of food/liquid that may be a potential safety hazard, and adhering to assigned work schedule.
Other duties may be assigned as appropriate. This includes daily, weekly, monthly cleaning, and cross training as time permits.
Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.

Assist with all cleaning duties as stated on opening/closing and weekly checklists.

Box, package, or plate cupcakes and other bakery goods as needed.
Act with a high level of detail when following instructions down to the dot on top of a Sprinkles cupcake.
Requirements:
A passion and love of the Sprinkles product, brand, and experience.
Able to communicate verbally and understand and follow written and verbal instructions from management.
Can work well under pressure while maintaining a consistent pace throughout your shift.
Ability to be on your feet for hours at a time.
Able to lift at least 25 pounds, which includes carrying cupcake trays, cupcake batter, and frosting in addition to bags of boxed purchases.
Must be able to move around the front of the bakery as you bend down for bags and reach up for cupcake trays.

* Performs a variety of duties in the efficient operation of the foodservice program including setting up serving areas, setting up steam tables and ice trays, and setting out food and beverages; replenishes condiment tables as well as prepared and packaged food displays.
* Takes food orders from customers; serves food to students and staff according to established procedures.
* Assists with cooking; operates grill in preparing short order food items such as hamburgers and hot dogs; prepares daily soups and pizzas.
* Assists with the preparation of a variety of food items such as fruits and vegetables; assists with making salads and preparing fruit cups; packages food as necessary according to established procedures.
* Operates computerized point of sale (POS) system; makes change.
