Position Title: Kitchen Assistant
School/Department: Designated School

Primary Function:
To prepare and serve breakfast and lunch to students and staff in accordance with the corporation food program while maintaining a clean, orderly cafeteria.
Essential Duties:
Prepare and serve meals as directed by the Cafeteria Manager.
Adhere to all regulations regarding food preparation, serving methods, serving portions, food storage, and cleanup.
Wash dishes, clean and sanitize tables, mop floors, and perform other custodial duties as assigned.
Assist in stocking and organizing food storage areas.
Monitor and report any cafeteria or food concerns to the Cafeteria Manager.
Seek opportunities to assist other cafeteria staff members so that the cafeteria operates efficiently and productively.
At the direction of school administration, assist in the management of student expectations and procedures.
Essential Qualifications and Characteristics:
A high school diploma or equivalent
Some prior experience in a foodservices position is preferred

Working Conditions:
The duties of this position are performed in a school kitchen and cafeteria. Persons are required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, and lift and move objects up to 40 pounds. Persons are required to use hands and fingers to grasp and manipulate equipment and utensils; reach objects above the head with arms and hands; climb a step ladder; push and pull objects; and engage in repetitive arm, hand, and finger motions. On occasion, persons may also walk on slippery surfaces. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distant vision, and depth perception. Noise levels in the working environments may be moderately loud or loud. Persons are also required to maintain emotional composure under stress.
