Job DescriptionSalary: $13 per hour Dept: Park FLSA Status: Non-Exempt $13.00 per hour General Definition of Work Performs intermediate professional work planning, organizing, coordinating and directing outreach and educational programs related to increasing awareness/utilization of the Richmond Farmers Market by underserved populations in Richmond, assist in the implementation of the SNAP Double Dollars Program, and assist in the planning and execution of weekly Markets for the Richmond Farmers Market and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Richmond Farmers Market Coordinator. Education and Experience High School diploma or GED and moderate experience in organizing large-scale events, workshops, or meetings, in local foods production, parks, advocating for local farming and local farm products with some staff supervision, or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Prepare and serve all food products according to company standards and procedures. Requirements DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Be courteous and friendly at all times to customers, co-workers, managers, and Supervisors. * Wear uniform and be neat in appearance. Classification: Part-Time, Staff Member, 42-Week Supervisor: Food Services Director Supervises: Student employees as directed by the Food Service Director Perform routine food service activities related to the setting up of serving areas and the serving of food to students and staff, perform cashiering duties, maintain cleanliness of food service facilities. Responsibilities The Assistant Cook should: * Assist in the operation of the kitchen for all on-campus dining * Maintain clear oral and written communication with the Director of Food Services on all food service matters * Assist with student employees assigned to this department * Recommend healthy and nutritious menus * Assist in preparing, heating, portioning, and serving food to students and staff according to established procedures. * Operate a variety of standard kitchen equipment such as dishwasher and ovens; report faulty equipment as necessary. * Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Food Services Qualifications The Assistant Cook should have: * Experience in food preparation for large groups (or willingness to learn) * Good interpersonal and communication skills * A strong church background * Ability to perform work while standing, sitting, and/or walking. * Ability to communicate effectively * Use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. * Ability to bend, squat, and reach. * Ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.

What you will be doing Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides. Meet with Sous Chef/Station Cook I to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes and other information pertinent to the job performance Start prep work on items needed for the particular menu of the day and assist Line Cooks on same throughout the shift. Set up work station with required mis en place, tools, equipment and supplies. Breakdown work stations and complete closing duties at the end of last shift of the day. Maintain proper storage procedures as specified by Health Department and hotel requirements. Follow food handling guidelines.
