Job Summary

SUMMARY
The Kitchen Aide assists in the preparation and serving of food at the chuckwagon and maintains the chuckwagon and dining area in a sanitary condition. While the Kitchen Aide acts as an assistant to the Cook within the chuckwagon setting, this position reports directly to the Camp Director. This position is eligible for overtime pay.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are the various types of work performed in this position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Assists in the preparation and serving of food for youth, staff, and guests of the facility in a friendly and efficient manner.
Maintains the cleanliness and attractiveness of foods, food processing equipment, and the kitchen and dining areas in the chuckwagon.
Cleans chuckwagon kitchen area, including cooking and serving dishes and utensils, removal of debris, sweeping and mopping floors, food storage, etc.
Provides assistance to the Cooks to ensure that quality foodservices and health standards are maintained at all times within the chuckwagon.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The person filling this position must have a high school diploma or GED. Prior foodservice or commercial kitchen experience is preferred. On-the-job training will be considered for those who lack experience but show a strong willingness to learn. ServSafe Food Handler certification must be attained within the first 14 days of employment.

Assists in the preparation and serving of food for youth, staff, and guests of the facility in a friendly and efficient manner.

Cleans chuckwagon kitchen area, including cooking and serving dishes and utensils, removal of debris, sweeping and mopping floors, food storage, etc.
Provides assistance to the Cooks to ensure that quality foodservices and health standards are maintained at all times within the chuckwagon.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The person filling this position must have a high school diploma or GED. Prior foodservice or commercial kitchen experience is preferred. On-the-job training will be considered for those who lack experience but show a strong willingness to learn. ServSafe Food Handler certification must be attained within the first 14 days of employment.

Set up service areas and pass-through windows as needed
Prepare baked goods or desserts for the following day
Properly store and date leftovers to meet health and safety guidelines
Clean cooking utensils, including pots and pans, and maintain a clean work environment
Follow clean as you go procedures to prevent accidents and maintain kitchen organization
Other Duties Include
Participate in training and development activities as required
Perform other duties as assigned or needed
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Ability to pass background check and drug screen
Ability to read recipes and perform basic mathematical calculations
Familiarity with nutritional, sanitation, and safety guidelines in food preparation
Preferred Experience
6+ months experience in institutional or large-volume cookery
Experience in food preparation techniques and sanitation standards
ServSafe certification strongly preferred (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
Other Requirements
Physical Demands: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds. Must be free of communicable diseases as required by the state and to the extent that knowledge is attainable under federal law.
Other: Must maintain an appropriate and valid state drivers license. Must meet state criminal background check requirements.
