Job Responsibilities
Adhere to and maintain preparation and production guidelines according to Aramark standards by reviewing and approving production and temperature logs.
Supervise inmates infood preparation and tray assembly.
Ensure timely, efficient meal service and all Aramark guidelines are being met.
Participate in preparation and serving of meals
Prints and distribute recipes.
Direct inmates in the use of Aramark recipes and train on proper cooking procedures.
Ensure proper portions and any special dietary requirements are fulfilled.
Obtain accurate daily population counts and review with staff.
Adhere to security policies and procedures. Ensure storage areas are locked at all times.
Ensure that all kitchen tools and equipment are returned to their designated secure area. Ensure all keys are returned and secured.
Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and sanitation schedules while ensuring that cooks, inmates and/or foodserviceworkers adhere to the assigned schedule.
Assist in conducting inventory, properly receiving, and storing food and food related items. Requisition orders as needed for approval.
Participates in the preparation/5 P's (Participation, Pulls, Production, Portion Control, and Postproduction), storage and assembly of meals and food items.
Follows the Company's Standard of Operation for food handling and storage. Follows HACCP policies and procedures regarding proper food handling procedures.

Qualifications
Must be over 18 years of age

Camp is closed June 19 and July 4-6; these days are unpaid
Typical Weekly Schedule: 11:00 a.m. Sunday-7:00 p.m. Friday
Daily 2-hour break Monday-Thursday; one 30-minute break for every 5 hours worked if commuting
Staff who choose to commute rather than live on-site typically work 40 hours a week, between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.; actual daily shifts vary and will be determined in conversation with the Camp Director.

As part of the FoodService Team, you will be responsible for helping provide delicious, fresh, well-balanced meals to our campers & staff, adapt menus to dietary needs, maintain safety standards within the kitchen and dining hall, and put together food pack outs for camper groups. As a Kitchen Assistant you will be responsible for helping prep & serve meals and maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dining room. Will report to the Cook and the FoodService Manager.
Work Commitment:
Dates: May 25- August 2
Includes staff training
Camp is closed June 19 and July 4-6; these days are unpaid
Typical Weekly Schedule: 11:00 a.m. Sunday-7:00 p.m. Friday
Daily 2-hour break Monday-Thursday; one 30-minute break for every 5 hours worked if commuting

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following responsiblities are essential functions of the job, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the manager/supervisor.
Works with food preparation, production, planning, food ordering, inventory and record keeping.
Interacts with students and school faculty in a positive, constructive manner. Relates and communicates positively with students, co-workers, school staff and parents.
Maintains a work environment that adheres to strict sanitation practices.
Attends job related training classes and workshops.
Follows standards of safety and sanitation at all times, including the proper use of chemicals.
Practices safe grooming habits as determined by local policy.
Follows the Manager's instructions. Uses equipment safely, follows assigned work schedule, uses efficient work techniques.
Maintains required forms and records.
Washing dishes, including pots and pans.
Informs manager of requested personal days or upcoming medical conditions (if possible) at least two weeks in advance.
If a personnel problem arises, informs the manager of the problem for resolution.
If in a cashier position, collects money in correct amounts for lunch and ala carte sales with a working knowledge of our point of sale system. Computes daily and monthly reports as required.
Wears proper attire, including a hair net covering the entire head, no excessive jewelry including dangle earrings, no fingernail polish, and proper shoes.
Follows procedure in personnel matters including school and departmental requirements related to foodservice.
Demonstrates the ability to work with the school community.
Respects co-workers with proper language and interaction.
Involved in cleaning up the kitchen area, and other areas as designated. This may involve heavy cleaning of equipment, storerooms, serving lines, and the kitchen in general.
May be required to move up to a different position when needed by the absence of other personnel.
May be called upon to work after-hours catering.
Involved in cross training when deemed necessary and profitable by the manager.
Willing and able to learn new skills and techniques.
Participates in school foodservice promotions with a positive attitude.
Informs the manager of any safety hazards. If necessary, takes immediate action to correct the hazard.
Prevents discriminatory practices and protects the identification of free and reduced students.
Observes all rules and regulations of the School FoodService program.
Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the Manager or FoodService Supervisor.

Be honest and trustworthy.
Able to communicate well both in writing and orally.

Have a thorough knowledge of School FoodService policies and program requirements.
Successfully complete foodservice sanitation training and apply that knowledge to the job. Must take and pass an accredited Food Handler's Certification Course as prescribed in the Indiana Department of Health Food Code (revision January 1, 2005).
Sanitation certification must be maintained for the duration of employment.
