Job Responsibilities
Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
Understand what is inclusive of a meal
Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
Timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and
Add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
Adhere to the uniform policy
Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
Supervise the food temperature requirements
Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment; duties include sweeping, moping, ware washing
Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Job Summary
The FoodServiceWorker is responsible for tasks associated with the preparation and delivery of food to residents and staff in a safe, efficient, sanitary manner consistent with procedures regarding proper food handling, sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules. The high-volume kitchen operation prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner for residents and serves between 1000 - 1200 meals daily.
Typical Duties
Reviews daily menus and meal counts, ensures necessary food items are stocked and fresh, and prepares food items for use as appropriate (washing, peeling, chopping/dicing, seeding, etc.).
Follows standard recipes and uses various ingredients and seasonings to prepare cold items including salads, sandwiches, desserts, and beverages.
Utilizes various kitchen utensils, appliances, and heavy equipment in food preparation (knives, peelers, dicers, slicers, mixers, etc.).
Packs lunches for residents and staff in courtrooms.
Assists the Cooks when needed.
Loads and transports food carts to and from the designated floor units and school area.
During holidays or special occasions, may be asked to set up special events, caterings and may even have to help serve.
Follows proper kitchen standards when cleaning/sanitizing the work area (floors, food carts, tables, kitchen utensils and equipment, dishes, and tableware, etc.).
Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
Completes production logs to track specific information for each meal.
Assists in maintaining proper inventory levels.
Performs other duties as assigned.

This position requires various start times: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., 12:15 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.
Under direct supervision of the Assistant Supervisors and Nutrition and FoodService Supervisor of the unit to which assigned, assists in preparation, serving and distribution of patient and/or employee meals and nourishments; works in dishroom and assists in cleaning duties as assigned. 1. Prepares, fills, sets up, works and cleans assigned station for tray assembly each meal.

Position Summary:
Position is responsible for setting up serving lines and maintaining the dish room. Maintains standards in lunchroom according to the principal and manager of each school. Works as a member of the FoodService Team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Set up dish room, prepare sanitation supplies for monitors or production aides for lunch service. Assist with setting serving line up and monitoring during mealtime if necessary. Works in dish room between meal periods and after. Responsible for cleaning dish room and machine at the end of each day. Will also assist with putting stock away labeling, dating, and rotating using the FIFO (first in, first out) method. Must complete 10-hour sanitation course once hired. Note: This list is not inclusive. The employee will be expected to perform any other duties requested by the manager.
Safety and Sanitation:
Reports all malfunctions to the school manager. Assist in general cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen area. Makes sure dish room and machine is clean at the end of each day. Will sweep and mop the kitchen floor. Will be expected to scrub trash cans as well as empty cans between meal periods. Make daily and weekly inspections of kitchen conditions in order to maintain high standards of sanitation and safety.

The Food Aide is responsible for the overall management of the Educare Servery. The Food Aide is responsible for ensuring that practices and procedures are enforced strictly to guidelines, as set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the City of Chicago, the State of Illinois, and the Federal Head Start Performance Standards. * Ensure Educare servery follows all USDA, City of Chicago, and State of Illinois licensing requirements.

* Plan menus with the Dietitian Consultant and Lead Food Aide. Deliver meals to the classroom at designated times according to daily schedules.
* Provide mealtime table set-up for "family-style" meal service.
* Supervise food approval from the Dietitian Consultant of children. Oversee breast milk/formula refrigerator temperature logs in infant classrooms. Facilitate and assist with food experiences in the school. Conduct quarterly Taste of Educare events for families.
* Maintain appropriate personal hygiene rules per regulations.
* Use Universal Health Precautions as outlined in the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) licensing standards for childcare centers.
* Develop and monitor a schedule for the cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
* Record all food substitutions, including menu changes, daily and file in a USDA binder.
* Maintains confidentiality under Start Early's policies and procedures.
* Attend and actively participate in all required meetings and trainings, and reflective supervision.
* Ensure no child is left unattended and implement Active Supervision Strategies.
* Completes required continuing education and maintains required certifications.

* High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
