Foothill College in the beautiful central California town of Los Altos
offers a wealth of opportunities for those seeking academic and career
advancement. In addition to offering marketable career-oriented degrees in such fields
as Medical and Dental Assisting, Veterinary Technology, Accounting,
Graphic Design and Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Foothill has numerous
transfer programs as well. Those who wish to move on to a four-year college or university may enroll
in an associate's degree program, majoring in any number of liberal arts
subjects. Academic majors for the transfer student include everything
from Creative Writing to Music to History to Pre-Law to Radio
Broadcasting. Those who wish to transfer may elect to go onto a UC, Cal State or
private university. However, Foothill also provides them with the unique
opportunity of completing their four-year degree on the Foothill campus.
Students who choose this option receive their bachelor's through Palo
Alto University, taking all of their Palo Alto classes at the Foothill
campus. Other programs at Foothill include apprenticeships for those in
Electrician, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, HVAC and other programs. Students at Foothill may also earn college credit for volunteer work or
paid employment. Supporting those who would ordinarily not be able to attend school,
Foothill also has an Occupational Training Institute. The institute
provides excellent counseling, advising and job-placement services and
supports low-income students. Tuition assistance for those in the Occupational Institute and other
eligible students is available through federal assistance and loan
programs. Admission to Foothill is open to anyone who has a high school diploma or
